Hey! Say! Jump's Yamada Ryosuke will be starring in "24 Hour TV's" drama special "Kaa-san, Ore wa Daijoubu" set to air on August 22. This is his third time in a 24 hour drama following appearances in "Niini no Koto wo Wasurenaide" in 2009 and "Kyou no Hi wa Sayonara" in 2013. This is the first time he will be starring. He will be playing Sasaki Ryohei.
The SP is based off of Shimizu Kumiko's book "Soccer Boys Ashita e no Kizuna-kun no Tamenara Ganbareru" that told the story of Sasaki Ryohei, a high school boy who was the vice captain of his school's soccer team when he becomes ill. It follows the story from his soccer playing, to surgery and long team hospitalization, up until his death from his incurable brain tumor.
NEWS' Masuda Takahisa will be playing the first son of the Sasaki family who works at a printing company until Ryohei is diagnosed. He leaves his job to help out with Ryohei's nursing. Shimoda Shota will be playing the youngest son. Akai Hidekazu will be playing the father of the family with Yasuda Narumi portraying the mother.
