OOC: Just a random, mildly interesting thing. XD;; I found a record of one of Lain's therapy sessions in one of the artbook scans the other day, and since she's getting counseling again... Yeah. Just a good look into her character, because it's kind of difficult to show it IC. -scuttles away-
"You're in seventh grade? Eighth grade?"
"Eighth."
"Do you like school?"
There was a long pause. "...Uh-huh."
"What subject do you like?"
Silence.
"Are you in any clubs?"
She shook her head wordlessly.
"Do you go straight home after school?"
Silence.
"Do you have friends?"
"...Yeah."
"What do you and your friends do for fun?"
"Nothing."
"Well, what do you do?"
She thought for a moment. "...Talk."
"What about?"
"...Stuff."
"Where do you go to talk?"
"The Wired."
"What kind of place is the Wired to you?"
"...A place where people connect with other people - the top level of the real world hierarchy."
The woman laughed weakly. "Who told you that?"
"My dad."
"Do you love your father?"
There was a long pause. She nodded.
"What kind of system do you use?"
"When I was in sixth grade... my dad... bought it for me..."
"Do you like operating this kind of machine?"
"Uh-huh."
"Do you dislike questions like this?"
Silence.
"Do you dislike talking about yourself?"
Silence, and then a nod.
"Why?"
A long pause. "...Because..."
"Because?"
"Because I'm... I'm me, but I'm not me. I mean, I'm... just me..."
"Who told you that?"
Silence.
"Who?"
"...God."
"God? You believe that?"

"Answer me."

"...There is a god if I believe there is..."
"That answer isn't good enough."
