Second Charm [Action]

[City!Dead might not have made much sense in Lily's mind but being a ghost does entirely. She's been turned into a Hogwarts style ghost and she's running about haunting people all over the City. Her primary focus is the library, where she's liable to be helpful or down right bossy ( Read more... )

[Ginny's at the Blue Light early, well before her shift begins, but it's the moments before opening that she likes the best. She can straighten out the seats, wipe down the tables, linger at the trumpet mounted in honour of the jazz club's original owner. Perhaps this might be the time for a bit of girl talk, if Lily so inclines, because the other redheaded witch is just hanging around and comfortably doing nothing.]

[Lily's already terrorized George, peeked in on Harry and made Snape eat. Her next stop, naturally, is to check in on Ginny. She pops into the bar, a bit surprised at where she's at. She's never been to the Blue Light before.]

Well this is lovely. I haven't had a chance to visit yet.

[She looks around, a little startled out of her thoughts and I'm sorry, we're not yet open halfway to her lips when she pauses and looks around. That was Lily, she's sure of it, but where-? And then she notices something that reminds her of Nearly-Headless Nick, pauses, and her eyes narrow.

Wait.]

Lily?

[She waves a bit at Ginny.]

Didn't actually mean to startle you. It seems the City had taken a more familiar take on my death.

[She knows what's been going on in the City, of course. What she didn't know was if anyone in the cabin was untouched by it and apparently... well, it's no surprise the deities have a cruel sense of humour. She isn't pleased, but Lily doesn't seem too bothered by it so Ginny will brush it off too. (Though she can't help but worry wonder what Harry's made of this.) She puts down the glasses she was polishing and rests her elbows on the bar, her full attention on the other witch and smiling.]

Well, at least you know it'll be over soon enough. I mean, it ought to be. Sometimes curses run a little longer than most, but... I mean, er-how are you?

[She's been doing a lot of brave face/poke fun of the whole City!Dead thing anyway. This is just a continuation of that. Mostly. She's seen Harry. He was a bit...surprised to say the least and a little upset she thinks. Lily sinks a bit onto/into a bar stool and the bar itself. There's a bit of the image that she's sitting and leaning on the bar anyway.]

Yes. That's what I'm counting on. Right now, it's amusing. If it were permanent I might feel differently. How are you doing? It seems things have changed a great deal for you in the City in the last few weeks.

[The question takes her aback a little, not enough to have it register on her face, but it's a quiet thing at the back of her mind. No one has really pointed that out, from their world or among her City friends, but now that it's been brought up, she can't help but agree. Things have changed-a lot in a short period of time, really, but it's been for the better, mostly. Ginny's still smiling, though it takes on a more thoughtful cast, and she nods.]

I'm well enough. Things are... well, yeah-different, but I shouldn't say that. The cabin was this crowded when I arrived the first time, you know, so it feels a lot more like it should. [She props her chin in hand, shrugging a bit.] It's taking some getting used to, but it's not bad, is it? Being the only one from home was a right chore some days.

[And that's putting it lightly.]

[Maybe it's the mother in Lily or maybe it's because things have changed so much for Lily as well in a short period of time.]

I can imagine how challenging this place would be without people from home. Even if you are all new faces to me, at least you understand the world I lived in. I'm glad for both our sakes that there are so many here now. I hope that doesn't change.

[Ginny's smile fades a little, just at the corners, not enough to diminish the warmth in it but it's quieter, somehow.]

I hope so too. We can't control much of what the City does-obviously-including leaving, but... Well, we can always hope. It's brilliant to have family and friends back, even if it does mean more people are getting stuck here. It's selfish, I suppose, but I can't help but be glad about it.

[Lily notices how that smile does go quieter.]

For some of us, it's better than what we've got at home so that makes you practically saintly in my opinion for wishing some of us here.

[She nods and shrugs a little in modest disagreement to that saintly comment, still smiling.]

If I remember correctly, George'll be sore at losing his saint title to me. Best leave it at that. [She raises her brows at Lily.] I've always said this place is a bit like an unplanned holiday, though. Better than home in some ways-I reckon it's the people that really make it what it is.

[Lily smiles fondly at her.]

I suspect you're right which makes me all the more understanding that you'd wish people here.
