Supposedly it's some kind of Death Penalty Week. I read about it in my Cornell Catholic Bulletin. That's why there were all the liberal hippies passing out fliers in Ho Plaza this week. The liberal activists up here are starting to get on my nerves. First, I was in the grocery store and this family behind me in line was talking about when they heard Cheney was in a hunting accident, they cheered because they thought he was shot, and then they were bummed when they realized he wasn't shot. I mean, as much as I don't believe in like Kerry's point of views or something, I wouldn't cheer if he got shot. It's just so ridiculous and ignorant. And these are the same people who go around passing out "Abolish the Death Penalty" fliers. So, let me get this straight, they want Cheney to die, but want to save the convicted murderers/rapists/arsonists/etc. on death row? I REALLY wanted to confront the flier-pushers and be like, ok... so... let me guess... as a liberal, you want to abolish the death penalty, but yet keep abortion legal? Uh huh... ya... so let me get this straight... You believe in killing innocent children and saving the lives of guilty murderers? Right... that makes sense in my mind... I think I'll stick with the Republican Party; thank you very much. My parents were afraid that by coming up the liberal-central for college that my viewpoints would change, but instead, they've only made them stronger. I even changed my facebook political views from "conservative" to "very conservative." That's showing a lot! haha.
Oh, how could I forget this! A few weeks ago, a white sophomore male attacked a black male. Not surprisingly, the lovely liberal activists are in an uproar about this "hate crime." However, I read a great article in one of the conservative newspapers up here, and it stated very keenly that it is quite a double-standard how this is considered a "hate crime," but when there were armed robberies in the beginning of the year in Collegetown (with white victims and black assailants), the campus community cared less. But now, this recent incident is enough to make organizations hold rallies and try to demand that it become a graduation requirement that we take a class on racism, homophobia, etc. I'm sorry, but people's beliefs are not going to change from a FORCED class. As the newspaper said, wouldn't it be better if we required a self-defense course instead? (haha) Oh! And just another little tidbit of information about the recent attack... the white assailant was an active member of the Cornell Democrats and actually wrote articles for the liberal newspaper "Turn Left"... That's all I'm going to say.
