ok- i'm so fucking sick of arrogant assholes who think that their specialty is the only one that has value. you shouldn't judge an entire discipline based on one class. i'm the first to admit i hated gen bio and it was boring and almost pure memorization, but that doesn't make biology a non-science, waste of time and it doesn't mean that "biologists can't tell the difference between 7 and 20". i also remember a fair amount of memorization in gen chem. there are specialties i don't like, and some that i think are boring, but i realize that they're important and although they don't seem fun to me they are fun for other people. back off biochem and i won't go into a 20 min rant about how pchem isn't really science but a simplified, assumption based exploration of calculus.
