East Coast Trip Part 5: Boston, New York, West Point, Home :’(

Jul 20, 2007 11:47

Well, this is going to be my last post about my vacation. On day 7, about 1/2 the people on the tour were leaving at the Boston Logan airport, but first we made a stop at Trinity Church in Boston. The plaza around the building was very nice and the church itself has survived pretty well despite its age. After stopping at the airport, we headed back toward New York City. The bus again stopped in Chinatown and we were given 2 hours for dinner. We went to Little Italy and had dinner outside at the restaurant called "Benito One". The food was great but really expensive. >.< After that we headed over to the Hilton for our last night in the East Coast.

The next day, we had to change buses because there was no need for a giant tour bus for 17 people. Unfortunately, the crazy ass asian lady was our driver. (See Part I) She hit a post in the middle of a fork and scraped the median on a U-turn. I could drive better than that when I was 12!

Our misery finally over, we stopped at West Point. We had a 1 hour tour around the campus. West point is a beautiful location for pretty much anything EXCEPT a military academy.

The last stop was at the Woodbury Outlet. Think of it as Gilroy except the size of the Great Mall only outdoors. The place was packed with Japanese people and stores we could find anywhere. *Yawn*

Finally, it was time to head to the airport to go home. But first, one last little adventure. Another person in our tour was confused about where she had to go for her flight and stopped at Terminal 2 with us. She had a JetBlue flight going to Ontario, CA. Because she was lost as hell, we took her all the way over to Terminal SIX and helped her check into her flight. We then had to run back to our terminal, which was now hella cramped with people and get on our flight. JFK airport is the shittiest airport on the planet. The terminals all have only like 10 gates and were spread out by a zillion miles. The Airtrain stations were like 1/4 mile away from the terminals and it took forever to walk from place to place. Inside the terminals it looked like it was a "futuristic" design from the 1970s. Today, however, the cieling tiles were falling apart and the jetways were all rusty and painted over with 10 inch thick coats. Bleh

On our flight back, I had a nice LONG view of the sunset. Because we were heading West, it took about 5 hours to see the sun fully set over the horizon. Near the end of the flight, we had a small delay for some reason and we took a nice long loop around the bay area. By now it was about 11pm and we were finally home!

All in all, the trip was pretty good. Sure, the tour company was about as organized as my desk and the other people in the tour were ignorant stupid old people from mainland China with no knowledge of the places we went, but it was all THAT bad.
