East Coast Trip Part 4: Boston

Jul 19, 2007 12:53

Alrighty, it was now time to go all the way through New York state and into Massachusetts. Basically we spent four hours on the highway, stopping twice at rest stops for lunch and a break. Finally, we reached Chinatown in Boston for dinner. We went into the most popular Chinese restaurant in town for a lobster dinner. It was good, but not the best lobster I've ever had. After that we wandered around Chinatown, which looks a lot like Oakland...

We stayed two nights at the Courtyard Marriott in Revere, MA, which isn't bad because we were able to get up at 7 instead of 6 that morning.

Our first stop the next day was a boat ride around Boston. Boston has a beautiful seafront and the weather was perfect for a boat ride. I must have taken a zillion pictures.

Next we headed to Newport, RI. For lunch we went to the Newport Creamer restaurent where they had great clam chowder. I had two bowls of it because it was soooo good. For desert I had an "Awful Awful" milkshake which was terrific.

The first real stop was at the Breakers Mansion. It's a mansion owned by William K. Vanderbilt and most of the stuff were built in France and shipped over piece by piece. The place was unnecessarily dark and it'd be REALLY creepy to live there, especially the kid's room. >.>

We left Newport and headed toward Plymouth.Plymouth is a pretty scenic location. It's the perfect place for a walk just for the heck of it. We took a look at Plymouth rock, this rock is really is JUST a rock, Jenny ;) I had an ice cream from this place called Ziggy's which had the best soft serve chocolate ice cream I've ever had. =D

Now it was time to head back to Boston. For dinner, the tour guide took us to Quincy market, which is a really long building with fast food shops on both sides. This building has a 100+ year history and used to be a market for foodstuffs after it passes through customs, which is a building right next to the market. The Quincy Market was surrounded by a shopping plaza which resembled a regular outdoor mall with your usual Ecko and American Eagle and stuff.
