chester stands on his own hind feet

I arrived at Newark today, and got both the most pleasant message, as well as a most heart breaking message.

The good news is that its barely 2 days after Chester's operation, and on Sunday morning (Singapore time), Chester managed to stand up all on his own effort, on all four feet! Praise The LORD! This is amazing since he still has the bottle on his back for excessive blood, and he's still nursing his 15cm operation wound.

The heart breaking part of the message is that C is having a really hard time with Chester. She and her brother has hardly slept since bringing Chester back home on Saturday evening. Chester has been awake at night, and sleeping in the day. He also seems to need constant company of people. If he's left alone at night, he would start barking. This has kept both of them on a constant vigil at night. This also means no sleep.

They are also having a very hard time ensuring that Chester takes his drugs. He refuses to eat any food laced with any medicine, so it has been a hard time trying to get him to take 3 types of tablets (pain killer, anti-inflamatory, and suppliments) and 3 liquid drugs (antibiotics, laxative, and flex oil).  Each time it comes to medicine time, he refuses to open his mouth. Everyone including professional advice from ARVC tells us to force feed him the medicines, but saying is so much easier than doing it.

The worse part of this is that I've just arrived in Providence, RI, USA on my business trip. For me, it feels like we've just given birth to a child, and I've left C to fend for herself back home.  I feel like I'm the worse husband out there today. And there's nothing i can do.

ARC Greendale (where we need to do the follow up with Chester and Dr Lin) called me earlier, and told me that Chester's 3pm appointment had to be moved to 1pm because Dr Lin needed to take urgent leave this afternoon. C only can leave work at 1230p and has to take taxis around. Things just can't get any more difficult for her.

The silver lining in the cloud is that Chester's situation seems to be improving.
Chester's been panting and barking lots. I think he's in great pain. I hope his heart can take all this 'excitement'!

Anyone reading this, please help pray for C, her family, as well as Chester.

marriage, chester
