A couple of weeks ago Ralph had cataract surgery on his left eye. It was successful and he can now see. He said one of the most interesting things is that colors are brighter now and the doctor said that is part of aging--the color tends to fade. Yuck ( Read more... )

Just letting you know that Dad went for his follow up with Dr. Green. Everything looks good and all of his blood work was very good. The kicker is that the doctor wants him to lose about 20-30 pounds and 3-4 inches off his waist. That actually sounds like a project several of us need to work at ( Read more... )

Mixed news first--Dad went for a follow up with the heart doctor the other day. Everything seems well but the doctor paid close attention to what he was hearing on stethescope. We went to see Dr. Green today. He is the cardiologist that started Peninsula Cardiology with Dr. Wood (Dad's doctor) and we were very pleased with him. He actually took time to read the file and talk to Ralph about everything while making us feel comfortable. Ralph had his follow up appointment with the Plastic Surgeon today. We had been worried because the site of the surgery had bled quite a bit over the past couple of days (he kept banging it against doorframes!) and it looked nasty. However, the doctor told him to expect it to look nasty but in about 3 months time he won't even be able to tell it ( Read more... )

Ralph's surgery went well yesterday according to Dr. Vela. The portion that had to be removed was about the size of a quarter but they planned to take some of the surrounding area as well.
