In the past 6 months....
Wow... so...um... I didnt realize that it has been so long since I posted anything.
Well... My son F is one. HE has been an absolute rollercoaster. At around 3 months, he had some kind of seizure, so my wife took him in to the doc. That started about 3 months of not growing, and not developing. At 6 months old, he was like a 3 month old. We also found out that he has a very rare condition called "autosomal dominant cutis laxa". Google it.
Basically, he doesnt produce Elastin, which is the elastic protein in the body, that makes everything stretchy. Without it, his skin sags, his blood vessels don't stretch so well, and neither do his lungs, or any other tissue. This can lead to emphysema, aneurism, and a host of other issues. The cacth is, that no one knows how bad it will be. The Dominant strain he has is the "better" strain to have. The recessive ones tend to cause death at an early age. But since there are so few people (50 in the world they say), they arent really sure what to expect. So... He will be going in for regular doctor and specialist visits, to make sure he doesn't develop any other issues.
My daughter T turned 2. She is an absolute handfull. F's therapist noticed how advanced she was today. She was blown away. Unfortunately, she seems to be using her powers for evil. :-P Shes not sleeping so well. Very fussy at night. And she wants to do EVERYTHING her self... which she cant always do. Shes only 2! But that doesnt stop her from TRYING to cook lunch... :-P
G is my son... but hes really pissing me off lately. Hes not eating dinner... scoffing at whatever is served. Hes WAY too into his videogames... gets totally absorbed by them... and the fucking TV shows... Hes a good kid. He is. Hes just pissing me off. He joined Cub Scouts this year. Its kinda exciting. He likes seeing his friends there. They have a pine wood derby coming up soon. They gave out kits, and we make cars, and race them. Its kinda cool. G is so excited.
B is 9 now... Cant believe she is getting so old. She is very sensitive, cries alot. But she is probably the most "together" of my kids. Shes doing great in school, and has lots of friends, and is really doing well.
H is 11. ELEVEN! OMG i feel old. She is also a nut. She and the wife butt heads ALL the time. They are too similar. And then they just keep escalating... and escalating... The i have to step in, and everyone thinks I'm the bad guy then. And my wife HATES to be told she is doing anything wrong... so I really catch hell from her. But she doesnt realize that not every fight has to be a "scorched earth" battle. Unfortunately, this includes me.... Oh well.
A few weeks ago, when H got into an argument with my wife, she said she would just walk to Mc Donalds, and then ARGUED that she could do it if she wanted to. BAD idea... I made her walk all the way there (about 1.5 miles) and then all the way back to school (another 1.5 miles)... IN THE RAIN. She didn't want to admit that it SUCKED... but she will NEVER challenge me that way again.
My wife and I have been having some ups and downs. The Good Times are Great... But the Bad Times are HORRIBLE. And they take forever to go away. Luckily I have some good friends to lean on. They make almost anything bearable.
