Craft list for summer

(This is mostly because I only read one book in May - The Elite - and it was terrible!)

Sewing - I have sewn two dresses for Sara! The first was a 'pillowcase dress' which basically meant I sewed a tube of fabric together with a contrasting bottom band, then cut out armholes and made a casing for a ribbon shoulder strap. It was a nice way to break in my new sewing machine - which I decided I needed and have been completely happy with!

The second was actually cut from a pattern, and took 3 nights instead of one to sew, lots of learning, but I was really pleased with the end result - picked cute owl/bird fabric and now can do gathers/ruffles. I have two more on the horizon - one from an online tutorial that I've cut out and sewn the first couple pieces from, and another from a pattern that I'd like to complete this month.

Bows also going well; I can make bigger bows (1.5 inch ribbon) pretty quickly now, and it's fun making bows to match her different outfits. My next plan is to invite friends with small girls over to have a bow making party to use up some of this ribbon I've been buying!

Fleece pajama pants were a horrible train-wreck, I sewed something funny and they looked like hammer pants. I ended up giving the rest of the fleece to David to just have as a blanket and he seems perfectly happy with that. Still need to buy a wide-eyed needle to be able to line the fleece for blankets for the family.

This week I have in mind a couple of crafts for my mother-in-law, that are Bible verse or hymn-based, since her birthday is this week. Haven't touched my cross-stitch, but I do have an inclination to re-watch Friends, so maybe that will be something I can do in the evenings while something familiar is on the screen.
