1. I am getting better at the small alligator clips - lining them is easy, finding things to put on top not always as much, but this is a fun, easy craft I can do a few sets of at night and feel accomplished. Pics are on my phone, so they're on FB, but harder to upload here. I also tonight completed my first successful "boutique bow" and am wanting to do a triple-layer next.
2. Korker bows - I've tried 2 of these, and am much happier with the second one. The first time I used fabric stiffener and it caused some kinks, and I tried the needle & thread method of bunching them together - and they weren't cinched tightly enough. Also attached it to a french clip, which just does not stay in baby-fine hair. The second time I baked the ribbons on the dowels - sounds silly I know, but resulted in softer curls and cinched them together with craft elastic like you would use for jewelry-making, much better. This time I just tied the elastic onto a ponytail holder, so it stays in her hair better.
3. Not much progress on fleece - I bought yarn to line the blankets with, but don't have a needle eye big enough to accept yarn - right now I'm lining one for my cousin with a full strand of embroidery floss. Have kind of given up on the pocket scarves from 14 months ago. (Also, anything else not listed means I haven't done anything on it :)
4. Sewing - brought the pattern over to a friend's house and we figured out how to cut out the actual pattern - I'm only talking the tissue paper here. have yet to lay it out and cut out actual fabric, and I feel like my sewing machine has gone a little sketchy, not sure if it's age or I'm not using it correctly. This did not, however, stop me from buying flannel today to make pants for Corey next :)
5. Kitchen - bought a quart of paint for the darker blue I want below the chair rail, I think I could paint this over the President's Day weekend coming up (yay for a 4 day weekend! No snow so we also get to stay home on our snow make-up day!). I also bought some tile I really like for a backsplash, now it's figuring out how much I want to cover (just behind the range? Or are we talking everything between the cabinets???) and whether I want to figure out how to do it myself or pay someone else to do it - both of these being budget constraints, and we lean towards cheap now that hospital bills are rolling in. :(
