It never rains but it pours

So we had flooding on and off in May and June. Every time things would start to dry out, we'd get another week of rain. By mid-July it finally dried out, but then we had no rain at all for nearly six weeks.

Guess what? I took a week off work. The weekend was fine, but Sunday night we started hearing the thunder rumbles. It's been raining just about continuously since then. Sometimes it stops for a while, but it always starts back up. We got an inch of rain yesterday, another inch overnight last night, and another half inch during the day today. I went out to feed the horses and put them in for the night and it started pouring. Once things were done, I came in dripping and soaked to the skin. Tonight's prediction is 100% chance of heavy rain. Tomorrow? 80% chance of heavy rain. It finally lets up on Saturday some time.

So if anyone asks what I did on my week off, the answer is "got wet." Repeatedly. At least I did get most of the spinning done. Today was my deadline for that, and I turned in eight show entries at the study group this afternoon. One was just an entry form, though, because I'm still working on the nålbinding. It's going well, just takes time. I can hand the actual piece in on September 12 when we go up to the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival.

New Scientist says that the fluorocarbons and chlorinated compounds that were destroying the ozone layer twenty years ago have been replaced by nitrous oxide as the human generated gas doing the greatest damage to the atmospheric ozone. Nitrous is also known as laughing gas. I wonder if Gaia is having a laugh at our expense now.

Gary is in Chicago at his mom's and staying there again tomorrow night, so I'm alone except for the plushies, the critters, and the rain. Time to go figure out what there is for supper for one. ;p
