it was an amazing experience and i still cant believe all the support and love i felt from my friends and family.
i had a ton of people there for me.
let me go through this in a orderly fashion.
so yesterday started with a massage at the hotel i was staying at. it was tres relaxing and very very nice...my dad had gotten it for me as a surprise. after we chilled out and i took a bath and a shower in order to relax some more. when i got to the dorothy chandler jeri took me to my own private dressing room, which i sharred with nicholas, my good friend who was a finalist in classical voice (i was non-classical) and she showed me how to open the door using the code thing and when i got inside there were baskets of things, flowers and pictures and cards from my mentors. i was like "OMG@#@!#@!" the whole thing was just amazing. we then had to rehearse for the awards segment of the show so, we went down to the stage level, met up with everyone and rehearsed what would happen when we received our awards. it was really great working with jeff margolis, who produces the oscar show, the emmy's, the sag awards, the grammys, and every other majoy awards show, and with so many fun people.
after we were givin thirty minutes to pre-set for the top of the show and to get dressed and everything. nick and i had SOOOO much fun in our room. we played some missy and beyonce to calm down our nerves as we got ready. i really felt that my entire confidence for the night depended on this rehearsal because i had done so poorly on friday, i needed to know that i could do it well. as hana and autumn remember, i wasnt too happy on friday. but the run through started, i saw my video and LOVED it. hehe, it was really well done, and i sung my song. it went exactly how i wanted it to. i felt so much better and i think that contributed to my ease onstage later in the evening. i was sooo pleased. cat'lyn couldnt hear the band, so she had to rehearse hers again, but we both did well. well after the rehearsal, it was time for dinner, then getting ready for the REAL THING...
i had some confusion with my food because they kept on delivering something with meat in it to my dressing room. by the time they got me a salade, i had already filled up on some pasta salade and an apple. i was nervous. i got ready, warmed up, and my dad came back and gave me shot of sweet wine to calm my nerves. i guess it worked, because i did start to relax. i was ready when it was time for me to go down, so i just felt really composed. it started, and i was sooooo excited. cat'lyn sang really well.
after her my video came on, and when they said my name, OMG a thunder of screamsssss. haha, it was sooo amazing. that really calmed me down too, cause i knew all my friends and family would (hopefully) like me, not matter what. my video went well. a lot of people laughed at baby me, prancing around singing and dancing. hehe, and it ended with me singing "maybe tonighhhhhhhhhhht" all high and in falsetto (from WSS) very ironic, in many ways, hehe. but umm, i went out and more screams. ok, it was a weird mixture. i would say i was nervous for about, ohhh the first 30 seconds of my song, but after that, i just said in my head, "get into the character, dont think about whats you are doing here (as in spotlight) but what the character is doing." then i just slipped into this place that i was sooo calm and relaxed, and i guess that really showed. the best part was the last note. OMGosh, it just SORED away. it was this amazing feeling, and then i started to vabrato it when the band did, and it was just WOW. this great feeling. i guess the lighting was really amazing too because (i couldnt see it), but it turned deep red towards the end. everyone said my performance was just really "put together well."
OOH, while we are at it, let me tell you who was in the audience....
*liza (fuckin) menelli
*morgan freeman
*sam harris
*the senior vice president of william morris (the premier agency in la)
*foreign dignitaries (spelling???)
*and many other accomplished and famous people
the show was hosted by the amazing jason ritter (john ritters son) and mary steamburgen (famous actress). sooo fuckin liza menelli, one of my favorite singers has seen me perform, and ive never seen her perform, live. you'd think it would be the other way around. so yes when i was done singing, soo many people stood up, well in my section, and i was just soooo happy, i didnt care if i won or not, it was just how i wanted my performance to go. i bowed and blew a kiss to my friends and family and then left. omgosh, it was amazing. after i sung, jason ritter came up to me and told me that i was amazing, and that my song was really powerful and impressive. i was like flipping outtt. omgosh.

this still excites me.
mary steamburgen came up to me too and asked about my pug that was in the video and we had a conversation about how amazing they are as pets and about how her pug was going to be in a book called "the tao of pug." haha, look for it in stores.
so then the program went on, i went back to my dressing room and had a shot of wine, haha, and then watched nicholas, who did an amazing job, and sat next to jeff margolis and jason while they did the tribute to john ritter, who hosted the awards sooo many times. well the time came to go back out for the awards. like i said, i didnt care what happened, as long as i did well, which i thought i did, so i DIDNT CARE. well our catagory was first. let me re-cap this as best as i can.
jason: now for some awards.
mary: in non classical voice, the runner up...cat'lyn wait.
-screams in the audiance from my family and friends-
-i smiled and tried to remained composed as people were screaming for me-
jason: and the 2004 spotlight award for non classical voice goes to, -looks at screaming people, smiles- erik altemus.
i went and accepted to "sculpture" from jeri who gave me a hug and said (almost in tears) "im sooo happy for you" and then shook mary's hand and jasons, who told me "congratulations and you really deserve this"
i near fainted, it was just crazy. wooooooooo. haha, i think i said that. when i got to my place, i had to shush my crowd, haha, they were standing and being sooo loud. hehe.
nicholas got second, but i was still so proud of him. our friendship is really turning into this big brother, little brother type thing. i look out for him, and he tells me a lot, and its nice to have a friendship like that.
i cant describe what i felt. cat'lyn and i held hands and for a minute i was just...dazed and confused, ha zeppelin. i was soooo elated. and fuckin LIZA WAS THERE. ha, im not going to ever forget this. after the awards were done, i went to the bottem edge of the stage and saw liza, but didnt get to say anything to her, she was leaving, but she did go backstage, i just didnt get to meet her. all my friends were there and i gave them big hugs and kisses, and omgosh, it was amazing. i couldnt leave because we were told we had to go back after to take pictures. but i tried to say hi to everyone, but there were soo many, and like, if you were there, i wasnt "friendly" it was because i was soooo wrapped up in everything. you know? but i tried to say thanks to everyone, but didnt get the chance to give all my amazing friends and family the attention they deserved. it was just CRAZY.
so after jeri came and took me away and all of the finalists to this reception room that was like sooo far away. we walked sooo many stairs, it was crazy. but we got there, and took hundreds (no joke) pictures. probably like 200 hundred. we took them with everyone, with donnor's, with the bank of amer-eee-ka lady, hehe, and with jeri, and with blah blah blah. i didnt get to see my mentors but i plan on calling them and thanking them for the gift basket which included disney land passes, a 50 dollar borders card and flowers. it was such an amazing night, probably the best of my life, thus far.
at the private lil reception thing i saw jennifer but, who was one of my judges this year and last, and she was sooo nice to me, and i thanked her for her support because, she has been rooting for me since i met her, and i told her thanks for it. also i saw the judge who saw me in parade in la and recomended this song to me for this year. i thanked him pro-fously(spelling?) i went back saw my parents was thirilled and then went back to my dressing room, got all my shiz-it and went out threw the lobby were some of my friends were still. i saw them all, that were there, and i guess one of my friends "carly" went up to liza and said "omgosh your amazing" and then later in the convo liza said that i was "very talented" and would "go a long way."
FUCK!@##%ert#$^$#^%eu:tyd#@ghcw$%e#@w@#@!214
well, i had to go so i got in the limo and was off, but i still just feel overwhelmed and just soooo amazing...i cant wait to see what happens now. thanks to all my friends, and family for your support, it really meant a lot to see people like autumn and hana and kristina and ruthie (ewww) and lauren and everyone...
