Poem: Beloved

Sep 26, 2007 19:41

I decided to post my poetry in my journal. It's not like I have anything else of interest to post anyway.

Now about the poem Beloved; I wrote this poem in a fit of pique a few years ago. While I'm not so pleased with the subject, I am very happy with how it turned out. I like the flow and rhythm it has. This is also the first completed poem I wrote.

I do hope you'll tell me what you think of it if you read it.

Beloved

Beloved of mine,
what foreign delight.
A chance most awaited,
was given this night.

Under the pines,
within falling vines.
Two souls in a dance,
like a beautiful trance.

A heart that was given,
with trust truly meant.
Pleading with tears,
holding such fears.

Promises promised,
with passion so keen.
A strength from within,
That's never unseen.

A Lady so true,
from birth has been bred.
A Lord like so few,
for the Lady has bled.

Laddy and lass,
in the high meadows dance.
'Till night has turned light,
And the sun is in sight.

Lord of mine hearken,
with care unforgotten.
Hold safe my heart,
as this night we part.

Holding thine heart,
loved lady of mine.
My heart I entrust,
this night unto thee.
