A Place to Call Home
It had been a week since Loki and Thor had come to Midgard, and things had fallen into a strange sense of normality...or maybe it was false sense of security. Jane had told them they could stay as long as they like, and so far they had yet to leave. Occasionally Loki would mention it. Saying it was to dangerous to stay so close to the landing sight, but he never made any push to make Thor leave so he figured Loki was just saying it.
In the week, Thor had come to call the three mortals his friends. He enjoyed spending time with them. They were fun, loud, and on a number of occasions they reminded him of the Warriors Three, and Sif. He didn’t know how Loki felt about them, but he hadn’t out right rejected them so he figured everything was alright.
What made him the most happy though was the slight improvement of Loki’s part. The younger man was actually sleeping. At first Thor had worried it would just be a one time thing back in Asgard, but when he saw the younger man napping on the chairs they had come to call beds his heart leapt for joy. Not only did Loki sleep through the night, but he also slept for a good part of the day. On a number of occasions he over heard Darcy, and Jane calling him a cat. Thor had, had to laugh at that because looking at it his brother did act rather like a cat.
Another improvement was that he was branching out. The first couple of days, he hadn’t talked to anyone but Thor, unless he was asked a direct question. Now he started conversations-albeit tentatively-with Erik, and sometimes Jane. He didn’t know what to make of Darcy so if he did talk to her it was usually short, and not about much important.
The best improvement of all though was his mischief. It was starting to come back a little at a time, and Thor was please-partly because it was not often directed at him, and because he could see the smile in Loki’s eyes, and sometimes on his face.
It had started a few days after they had gotten to Midgard. When the group would go out to eat, Loki usually just stayed back at the workshop-claiming the smells got to him. So when they all came back there was usually some big vicious animal waiting for them. The first time it happened it was a bear, the next night it was a Tiger, the third night was an anaconda. While Thor found this rather amusing Jane, Darcy, and Erik did not. Every time they screamed and almost called the cops, till Loki changed back to his normal form, and soothed there fears.
Thor didn’t understand why they didn’t come to expect it every night. It was just the way Loki was, and even though he sometimes thought it was harsh, it was good to see the sparks of the old Loki coming back.
“Has anyone seen my pencils?” Jane called walking into the center of the workshop. She was holding a pack of papers in one hand, and her other was scratching the back of her head, “Because I can’t seem to find them anywhere?”
Darcy looked up from behind the computer that she had taken as hers, “Nope. I haven’t. I was looking for them earlier and couldn’t so I just gave up.”
Jane scowled and looked around, “Erik?”
“Nope.” He muttered from behind his computer, “Though I’ve been on a computer all day, so it wouldn’t really matter to me.”
The woman groaned, “Damn!” She spat, “Thor where’s Loki?”
Thor jumped slightly and stared at her before shrugging. And it was true. For once in three weeks Thor had woken up without Loki, and he hadn’t seen the other man since. He was sure he was somewhere near by, but if Loki had gone off, then he was probably doing it for a reason...though he wouldn’t put it past him to have stolen all the pencils before he had left.
Jane groaned again, “You guys seriously need cell phones.” She said shaking her head, “Then I would just be able to text him till he told me where he hid them all.”
Darcy laughed from behind her screen, “Jane you are so funny,”
Jane rounded on the younger woman, “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean that why don’t you just use a pen?”
Jane blinked and leaned back. Why hadn’t she used a pen in the first place. Sighing she walked over to her desk, and pulled her utensil drawer open and reached out to grab a black pen. Right as her hand wrapped around the pen it vanished. Jane gasped and reached for another, only to have the same thing happen. “LOKI!’
Thor couldn’t help it...and apparently neither could Darcy, or Erik. They all busted up laughing. The look on Jane’s face when they laughed only made it funnier. The woman’s face pinched with irritation, and annoyance before she spun around and started to stalk out of the room. Only to run into Loki.
Jane blinked and looked up at the man, who’s face was practicably emotion less. The only thing that gave him away was the way his eyes danced with humor, and life. When she saw it, her anger seemed to vanish. From what Thor had told them about what happened to Loki she knew that it had been almost unbearable, and that Loki wasn’t the same after it, so seeing some semblance of happiness in the man was exciting.
“Hello Jane,” the man said calming.
“Hey Loki,’ She said glancing back at Thor, Darcy, and Erik They were all watching her curiously with smiles on their faces. “Um...have you seen my pencils, and pens?”
Loki blinked slowly and tilted his head, “No I don’t think I have,” He said with a slight shrug, “Sorry”
Jane glared, “Are you sure?”
Loki nodded, “Aren’t they in your drawer?”
Jane threw her hands up and groaned-missing Loki’s small grin-and walked over to her desk, pulling it open with more force than was needed. She gestured down to the drawer, “There is nothing in he-“ She suddenly fell silent as she picked up one of her mechanical pencils. “What the fuck?”
Loki shrugged and walked over to Thor. He was wearing a pare of slim jeans, and a black button down shirt-they had gone shopping shortly after their arrival at the local thrift store. Sighing he sat down next to his brother and glanced at him, “Hello Thor,” He said softly before resting his head on the larger mans shoulder.
Thor grinned, “Hello Loki. Did you have a good day?”
The younger mans years rolled skywards before he nodded, “I had a very productive day,” He said.
“Meaning you just woke up,” Jane grumbled from her spot behind her desk.
Loki arched a brow at her before looking back up at his brother. From behind her desk Jane watched the two ‘brothers’. Honestly she didn’t know if she believed that. For one they looked nothing a like, another thing, they were to loving towards each other. If she was honest with herself she would swear they were lovers.
She felt a pang of sadness because she did like Thor. Quite a bit actually. But it was clear the man hadn’t noticed. He was to busy watching Loki, an acting like a love struck puppy. She hoped Darcy had noticed because she could tell the younger woman liked Loki, and she didn’t want her to get hurt.
Jane glanced over at Darcy and gestured for her to follow. Darcy gave her an odd look before standing and following her out of the workshop. The two walked in silence for a long time before Jane finally turned and looked at Darcy. “I think Thor, and Loki are gay.” She blurted out.
The younger woman laughed and nodded, “Well yeah,”
That took Jane by surprise, “What?”
“You didn’t know?” Darcy laughed, “I figured it out when we went clothe shopping with them. You went with Thor, so I got some time with Loki. The man has a very...gay sense of fashion,”
Jane couldn’t process what she was being told. Darcy knew they were gay? “What?”
Darcy couldn’t help but laugh harder, “God! I thought you would have noticed earlier. The way Thor is all over Loki, they are always cuddling...just little things like that. Really Jane. I can’t believe you didn’t notice it before.”
Jane went red in the face, “Shut up,” She grumbled.
Darcy clapped her on the shoulder, “It’s alright Jane,” The younger woman grabbed Jane’s hand and started pulling her back towards the workshop, “Besides, “She said, “They are way to hot to be straight.”

Loki lifted up their intertwined fingers and stared at them for a long moment before looking up at the sky. The stars were shining brightly in the cloudless sky. He found he was actually coming to like New Mexico. It was so different from Asgard. He didn’t need to be something he wasn’t, and it was easier to forget his worries. He knew it was probably one of the worst things he could do, but he couldn’t help it. New Mexico felt more like home than Asgard ever had to him.
“Do you think father has found us yet?” Thor asked glancing down at Loki. The younger man was resting comfortably against Thor’s chest with there hands clasped together.
Loki glanced up at him and shrugged, “I don’t know...I don’t think so. I think if he had found out where we were he would be on us by now.”
Thor nodded absently, “Probably,”
“Maybe he will never find us.” His voice is soft and wistful.
The words caught Thor completely off guard though. Loki was the logical one. He didn’t have wishful thoughts. He knew every hard fact and usually didn’t let himself be deluded. Thor honestly didn’t know what to say to the other man. So he stayed silent.
Finally after a moment of slightly tense silence Loki spoke again, “I know it’s wishful thinking, but damn it all I wish he wouldn’t find us. Because I know...I know he’ll find us. And he will take us back and make me marry Arasi.”
There was the loki Thor had known all his life. The words were hard but Thor knew that this time on Midgard was only a temporary fix. They would be found no matter what realm they tried to hid hide on, and they would be taken back to Asgard. Most likely they would be punished, and then Loki would be sent away.
Slowly Thor leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to the crook of his brother shoulder. The smaller man glanced at him and smiled softly, “I miss you,” He whispered, “I miss the way things were.”
“So do I,” Thor responded gently.
Loki hummed and rubbed his face against the scruff of Thor’s beard. “I feel more normal,” He said; his green eye’s looking up at Thor, “I feel almost like I use to.”
“Really?”
Loki nodded and leaned forward. He glanced back and smiled before turning and wrapping his arms around Thor’s neck, “Really,” his voice was low and sensual just like Thor remembered during all there nights of kissing and heavy petting. “This time on Midgard had really done me some good.” he paused and tilted his head slightly, “I should be back to normal in no time.”
Thor pressed a gentle kiss to Loki’s forehead, “You were always normal Loki,” He said.
“Hmm,” Loki hummed, “I think you are just a little bias.”
Thor shrugged, “I don’t care. You were just trying to deal with it.”
Loki laughed a low sound that sent tingles down the larger mans spine, “I think I should find a different way of dealing with things.”
Thor smiled, “That would be nice,”
Loki stared down at him from a long moment before leaning up and gently pressing his lips against Thors. The kiss was like nothing Thor had ever had before. The kissed they had shared before were usually desperate, and wanting. But this kiss was full of love, passion, longing, and desire. It was intoxicating to the other man, and he just couldn’t get enough of Loki’s lips.
Thor wrapped his large arms around Loki’s middle and pulled him close. The younger man was thinner, but it didn’t lessen the desire he felt for the other man. Loki pulled away suddenly his breath coming out in deep pants as he pressed his forehead against Thors. He laughed softly and rubbed his head back and forth before saying, “Gods I’ve missed this.”
Thor chuckled, “I have missed it also,” He said before capturing Loki’s lips in another feverish kiss. He pulled Loki closer so their bodies were molded together. He wanted so badly to feel Loki’s body against his. He wanted Loki under him, moaning, writhing, and arching against him as Thor brought him over the edge. Gods he wanted it so bad. But he knew Loki wouldn’t be ready for it. He might have been getting better yes, but that didn’t mean that he was ready for something like this.
He grudgingly pulled away and let his head fall back against the back of the chair, “We have to stop,” He whispered huskily, “He heard a soft whine, and he couldn’t help but laugh at it. He looked at Loki and ran a soothing hand though his hair, “If we don’t stop now, I wont be able to control myself. I don’t want to push you into anything doing something you aren’t ready for yet.”
Dull green eye’s studied Thor for a long time. After a moment he sighed and nodded. Thor watched as Loki drew in a few calming breaths before a crooked grin spread across his face, “Thank you,” He said as he leaned against Thor’s chest.
Thor grinned down at him, “Your welcome.”
The two fell into a comfortable silence, just watching the stars as the night passed. After about an hour of silence Thor glanced down at Loki, “Do you want a pop-tart?”
Loki looked at him, his brows pulled together, “What?”
Thor grinned, “You have to have one.”
