Another Dishcloth Swap! A-ha!
1. Do you knit, crochet, or do both? Knit.
2. What types of needles do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? Bam-boo! (Pandas like bamboo...)
Ahem.
I've been using aluminum because I like the shiny colours, but they have a tendency to rub raw at the tips and then make annoying scraping noises. Bamboo is nicer, but my size 7 US bamboo needles are only 9" long, oddly enough. I'd love to try wood, in the hopes that the points on them would be less dull than on the bamboo.
Oh, yeah! Straights. I developed this quirk of knitting with the non-pointy end of the right hand needle resting on a flat surface - usually my belly, which we can't really in good conscience call flat - and circulars totally defeat me. So does knitting standing up, and DPN's are sort of tricky (mostly with the poking myself in the belly)
3. What types of cotton do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? Is there any that you've been wanting to try?
I like pretty much anything cotton, but when I tried Mission Falls 1824 Cotton it made me want to throw things. I love Blue Sky Alpacas Cotton, but it's too lush for washrags (despite
this pattern In pure dishrag cotton, Sugar N' Cream is what we have locally, so it's what I use.
I'd like to try... well, everything cotton, but especially CotLin, KnitPicks Shine... I'm open to anything new, tho' I am particularly interested in the grown-in-colours organic cottons.
4. What color(s) are your kitchen and bath decorated in (if any)? Kitchen is mostly blues, dark blues, indigos and Chinese blue. Bath is dark purple, slate-lilac, grey, and black.
5. What are your favorite colors for yarns? Least favorite?
Blue, blue, blue (indigo, a rich royal blue, sky blue)... I pretty much like all colours except pastels, though I prefer earth tones & jewel tones (deep colours - forest green, russet-red...) and greys. I <3 the greys.
6. Do you like Winter, or do you count the days until it ends? Both. I like it, I enjoy the snow, but it's not my favorite season (that's Autumn.) I love the way snow looks, and I like playing in it.
7. What's your favorite way to brighten your day when you're down in the dumps? Oooh... dark chocolate... a good book... a project to take my mind off the dump, whatever that was.
8. What is your favorite treat to indulge in and when your down in the dumps? Lots of dumps in this questionnaire... Dark Chocolate. And sometimes a mocha latte.
9. Do you drink coffee? Tea? Cocoa? Yes. Tea-tea, rather than herbals, are my preference there, but I enjoy just about every hot drink.
10. If you could take a vacation starting tomorrow and go anywhere for one week and money were no object, where would you go and what would you do? That's hard. Probably the British Isles. Maybe the East Coast, all of it. Maybe just visit all of my friends spread across the US. There's so much land I haven't explored that it's hard to pick one place.
11. Do you have any allergies or aversions your pal should be aware of?
I'm allergic to wool, and have a strong aversion to scented anything, especially strongly scented fruity things. Vanilla and ginger seem to be the exceptions.
