I don't think I've experienced either. Literally, the only time anyone ever tried to use violence on me was when a random Year 6 tried to do a wrestling move on me and I pushed him over. Even that gave me a bit of respect. My best friend and I used to have huge pretend battles where we had to think of counters for the others' moves. When he moved to Ireland, I somehow still ended up being invited to play It and stuff like that with the rest of the year. I really miss playing pretend games with other people; how can they lose their imaginations like that? The existence of the Internet and stupid stuff that taps into the MUST BE IN A GROUP mentality is KILLING THE WORLD. Ahem. Anyway. Maybe it's more 'acceptable' for girls to be quieter during primary school or something, but I can't think of any reason Sil was bullied at secondary and I wasn't, especially since we were best friends for the first few years. I mean, I used to sit and draw on my own in the form room at break and read in the library all lunchtime and people still liked me FOR NO DISCERNABLE REASON. Maybe I was completely oblivious of everything that was going on around me or something.
