Chapter 558 - "Tomorrow" - Last Chapter SPOILER

Jun 17, 2008 17:40

The final chapter.... really.

I laughed. I cried. I felt like I was reading fanfic...... Srsly. Note: Please read the chapter before you read my effort at snark. It's a long chapter and there are many emotions that go through your mind as you experience the end of anything. I am going to try to keep this snark-lite out of respect for this epic ( Read more... )

Onii-san means big brother or could be (as those so inclined are doing) translated to mean brother-in-law. I like big brother myself. Because... yeah, it would do Sesshoumaru good to have an annoying human brat thinking of him as an older brother.

Hm... so, to sum it up. Kagome and Inuyasha are trapped in a loveless marriage based on co-dependency, inadequacy, and mutual fear of being alone. AWESOME. No, seriously. I so mean that.

Er. not saying the end chapter, them getting together and such wasn't sweet. But, yesh! I finally can write unhappy marriage Inu/Kagome fic and it be sort of canon. *happy*

Actually, 13 is legal in Japan (or so I'm told)

so why did inu get annoyed when she called him big brother?

so no kiss=no love? gah.

yeah, the marriage age over there is younger. but RT will just being nice to her international clientele:)

Why?

Because Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru are always going to pretend to dislike each other when it's obvious to everyone that they actually care a great deal for one another.

Kagome calling Sesshoumaru big brother pretty much suggests that the brother's are on friendly terms.

Neither is going to like that. Ever. Even if it's true. Even if the only reason why they continue to bicker is because it's the only way they can express affection for one another. (let's just hope that it's calmed to the point where they won't lose body parts)

hm.. *scratches head* i suppose that makes more sense than anything else. it matches her expression anyway. so i'll accept that. thanks.

Actually. I say no love because there is no love. They may fall in love someday... but I don't believe they're actually in love now. More like want to be.

well, love is an evolving thing. i'd say they have had a number of trials to justify something in the love category. will it evolve? probably. actually, in an odd way the fact that they didn't kiss gave more credibility to the possibility that they're in love rather than in infatuation....

I do like that they were seperated for a while. It gives hope to their relationship actually lasting. As in the were still infatuated even after the absence.

Even so, the whole Inuyasha and Kagome romance fell flat for me. For me, they lost much of their early chemistry early or midway through the manga, so the rest of their romance was just going through the motions.

Would I have liked it better had they not ended up together? Hm. I don't think so. I'd have rather the well stayed open (or if it is open, it be clarified) I'm not too fond of the idea of a bright young woman abandoning her world for a man.

yeah. i almost snarked that and decided not to because they seemed genuinely at peace with it...

...in addition, 3 years gives that whole Stockholm Syndrome aspect of the relationship time to die down a bit.XD

The kanji IS definitely brother in law but they're both spoken the same out loud. If she'd meant older brother she would have used that kanji. *shrug*

Oh, thanks, I didn't know that. That does clarify it some.

I kind of liked the "big brother" interpretation better myself, only because if Inuyasha and Kagome are married now, I feel gypped that this is how we find out. I would have liked it more if they were getting to know each other again (three years is a lot of catching up) and then they got married or whatever. I very much got the feel from them that they had all the time in the world now, so no need to rush.

They might not be married yet. They might be engaged. I think that in Japan they use the in-law terms during the period of engagement as well. I'd be interested in asking a Japanese fan. But yeah, either way, I think the bits of the last chapter that Kagome narrated over once she got to the feudal era might have taken place over a longer period of time (two or three months or so). That's the impression I walked away with. And in sengoku jidai marriage really isn't as formal a ceremony as it is now either so it doesn't mean they'll automatically start popping out babies yet (I hope not, I'd rather them run around and kickass together while married for a few years before babymaking).

Myself I wish Miroku and Sango had waited, but I guess I can tell myself they waited a little while and those twins are just a bit younger than they look.

That's good, I like the engagement interpretation. There's something very romantic about it.

As for Sango and Miroku, why the heck would she save his life so many times only to let him die of blue balls? (j/k) They seemed ready, IMO. And they made beautiful babies. <3

I'm kind of hoping the babies were conceived, like, inside of Naraku or something. Only because three years is a short amount of time for two pregnancies, so the further apart she had them, the healthier it is for everyone.

if Inuyasha and Kagome are married now, I feel gypped that this is how we find out agreed. I like the idea of it - and their family familiarity (just imagine the silence at Thanksgiving!) - but i'd hate to have missed the wedding!

Wow... I like, totally disagree. Besides the fact that Kagome said way back when that she loved him, the way he looked at her on page 26 sealed it for me along with a lot of other little hints along the way.

I'm glad I didn't read that as being so gloomy. O.o
