devioussoul10 because Pedro being a thief has been our in joke for a long time.
YES. this is what came out of the opening line. *ninja*
"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief.
The masked man looked at the man with a painted face and smeared lipstick and pondered the question carefully.
Yes, there was a way out of there, out of the sudden mess the masquerade party had turned into when the men disguised as pirates had pulled out real guns and informed them that they were part of the holdup.
But the masked man did not know if he could trust the other. They had kept company to each other, but they were still strangers. And the masked man was not there simply to enjoy the party, since really he was a thief and he intended to rob the mansion’s vault of some of its content.
For that purpose, he had acquired the house plans and knew of the secret corridor that linked the study to a back exit.
"I don't know." he replied to the green eyed man that was still waiting for an answer from him.
“It's so hopeless, then. We were trying to raise funds for a charity, but it seems that these bastards will get their hands on the money now.”
The masked man gazed deeply at the other. This changed everything. He was going to rob the vault as well, but he only intended to take a few documents that shouldn't be there in the first place.
The man before him worked for the mansion's owner, and the thief had to wonder if he knew what evil monster he had as employer. By the innocent look in his eye and his strong belief that the party was a simple fundraiser, he understood the other was oblivious of the real destination of the money.
The pirates passed by the rows of hostages looking menacingly and trying to frighten the guests. That's when the joker reached out and grabbed the masked man's hand.
And it was then, feeling the strong grip and the warm flesh, that the thief decided. He would confide in the joker and together they'd both escape the mansion and get the loot, donating the money they found.
He would need the other man's cooperation. So, as soon as the pirates were gone from their part of the ballroom, he began to whisper the plan to the joker.
“I lied, I do know a way out of here. Because I had other plans for this evening. There is a secret passageway from the study, and if you help me get the vault open, because I cannot use the explosives I brought now that they crashed the party, we need to do it quietly, you're in on it. Then we get out.”
“Oh...you were planning to steal the charity money, you're no better than them.” and the joker tried to pull away.
But the thief held him down.
“I'm after some papers your boss should not be in possession of. We take the money so they won't get it, and we donate it. I trusted you with my plan, so I need you to trust me back.”
The joker pondered for a few seconds. He had worked so hard to organize the whole event, and it infuriated him to know the money would end in the wrong hands.
“OK then. What's the plan?”
“We need to get into the study, so we need a diversion, something to keep them from noticing we're gone.”
The joker thought a little and reaching in his coat pocket, he fished out a miniature rocket. He flicked the lighter and threw it in the middle of the ball room.
“When it explodes, we make a run for it.” he explained to this new friend.
In three seconds, the flare went up in smoke and loud noise and the two scurried out of the ballroom, down the corridor and into the study.
“That was very clever.” the thief congratulated the other man, as they secured the door.
“It helps that I wanted to be a very in character Joker, with a few tricks up my sleeve, or in my pocket, for that matter.”
They laughed, the hostage tension leaving them bit by bit. The joker opened the vault and the thief prepared the bags they'd be loading the money in.
He opened the door behind the painting of the house master's wife and together they carried everything outside. The thief secured the documents he was seeking in his breast pocket and then exited, happy he had accomplished his mission despite the holdup.
He was met outside by a a gun's muzzle. The joker was giving him an evil eye.
“What the hell?” he let out.
“Didn't you know the Joker's not to be trusted? I changed my mind about the charity.” the man let out a laugh.
“So you're just gonna take off with the money? Or are you loyal to Laporta?”
“This ain't about Laporta, this is about earning my freedom.”
The joker suddenly pushed the thief into the wall. They were the same height and his green eyes bore holes into the masked man's dark ones.
“What do you want of me?”
“Nothing. Just to say thank you for your help and goodbye.”
the Joker pressed his lipsticked lips to the thief's in a hard kiss and hitting him with the butt of the gun, he hopped on the motorbike loaded with the bags containing 20 million Euro and took off with a maniacal laugh.
