Ah, yes, drones, am watching my third marathon of Project Runway this month. Can stop anytime am wanting...really! It's just for my mental health, that's all.
And what a weekend this is to recover from! We started this weekend in fifth place, due to the vagarities of league play, and we were finally in a place where what we did affected our future, not in a place where if team A wins, we're out, team C loses, we're in. We lost to Bethel on Friday. We teetered on the edge, having lost control, and frankly, the Gods of Hockey threw us a bone. The team that needed to lose lost, and we gained everything back. Empress is so proud of her teammates - they put everything on the line and we won, 5-3, and we're in the fucking playoffs! Oh it feel so good! Yes...
One thing that caused drama in Goalie-world was Coach's choice to put Real Backup Goalie in on Friday instead of Starter. Real Backup has been playing well, but when it comes down to it, Empress, along with rest of team, have more faith in Starter. She played Saturday and, despite letting in the first shot, rallied to play her heart out and kickstart us into the win. In my role as Third Stringer, find myself torn between them both emtionally. Starter is a friend, the first one Empress would go to with problems on the team. Real Backup is a v. nice person but we're not as close. Arg.
In personal news, during warmups on Saturday took a high and hard shot to the shoulder joint and now can't move it! At least in some directions. Can feel but not see the bruise. The skin is puffy and all but the lightest touch hurts it. It's right on the front of the joint, and makes sleeping a serious pain because every time weight gets shifted to it am woken up again! Ah, the life of a backup...
Tuesday, we play St. Olaf and the playoff dream lives on! And in the words of Preggers!Heidi...
