As most of you on ye olde flist know, my Mom has been in a nursing home since 2005. She's there for a variety of medical conditions, mostly respiratory related. She was informed this week that as of May 1st, her current nursing home will no longer provide 24/7 respiratory therapy. Everyone in the family agrees that this means finding a new nursing home for Mom.
We've already started looking at places and so far
this is the primary contender. Do any of you out there know anything about LifeCare? Are they a good company/facility? Would you let a loved one live in one of their facilities?
Beyond that, do any of you medical types know of good references for finding specialized nursing homes? Are you aware of any good nursing homes in NE Ohio with 24-hour respiratory care? I'd really love to move Mom out to California but she is just not well enough for that sort of travel and, besides, I still don't think she would want to leave her friends in Ohio anyway.
Thanks in advance for any info you can send my way. Also, Ohioans, I will most likely be in state sometime in the end of April/beginning of May to visit facilities.
