That's me! This Tuesday!
Apparently things work much faster in Nelson than in Christchurch. I sent a preliminary email to the national St John Ambulance general inquiries place yesterday hoping I could restart my volunteer application process in Nelson. I expected maybe a new package in the mail or a reply email at the most. Then tonight I got a phone call from a guy at the Nelson station. They want me to do a test shift on Tuesday, 8.30am-6pm, in one of the ambulances. Front line me. Then, assuming I'm not running for the hills, they hand me the application package, police vet me, check my references, do a fitness test and a teensy interview, and I'm in. They must be running low on people if they're this eager to adopt me already. I'm very excited! Possibly I'm jumping to conclusions and their process is more tricky than I expect, but somehow I can't bring myself to worry. All of a sudden I'm moving ahead with this in leaps and bounds.
(Possibly it's also somewhat macabre to be this excited about human injury. Hmm.)
