"here you go babe" sian spoke quietly, the tight corners of her mouth spread into a smile as she placed Rileys hot chocolate on the dark coloured coffee table and firmly planted herself adjacent to her daughter.
"where were you last night?" riley asked as wrapped her small slim fingers around the small mug, blowing the contents carefully examining the froth pushing over to the rim of the mug. sian paused in thought, pondering what she would do, if she should tell riley whats going on...or not...not now at least. The thought itself, gave her an uncomfortable, tight pain in her chest as if someone was dragging a knife through the middle of her heart. "mum?" riley said unsure, observing her mother who looked to be hooked or hypnotised by a thought.
"oh sorry ry" sian apologised, the muscles at the corners of her mouth reacting to perform an instant fake grin as watched her enticing daughter gentally sip her hot chocolate. "errmm..i..." sian stuttered, she clasped her narrow white fingers as one and drove her gaze to the floor, closing her eyes briefly, then re-opening them to see the blurry vision caused by her unshed tears. blinking, the tears fell one by one onto the shiny floorboard. trailing marks along sians cheeks.
she lifted her head up slowly, feeling slightly sick and nausous as if everything was in slow motion. her gaze rested on the photo sitting on the top of the fire place. a pair of two sparkling blue eyes were staring back at her, her own and her lovers. There they were, happy as ever on their special day. the one day that brought everything together and turned sian powers into sian webster. Their wedding day.
"mummy?" she heard a soft voice as she quickly looked next to her, to see her daughter looking really worried. sian smiled as she used her sleeve and wiped her tears.
"yeh hun?" she smiled, pushing all her previous thoughts and memories to the back of her head. why are you crying? riley asked sadly as she moved closer to her mother, placing her hand on sians forearm.
sian sucked in a large amount of air as if she were about to dive into deep water and needed all the air should could take in. "mummy's not well riley..." sian spoke in a calm, supportive tone as she took a graceful hold of her daughters hands. riley's eyes flickered, her forehead scrunching with confusion she shook her head.
"w-what do you mean?!" she questioned. a slight sense of nervousness trailed down riley's spine, watching her mother gulp and wipe her cheeks, she knew whatever it was it was bad.
"your mum..."sian paused as her mind felt like it had been instantly erased and all of a sudden sophies confessions and everything rushed back into her mind making her gasp. this was real sian thought, it was actually happening. sian whimpered quietly, as the feeling of shock trickled slowly down her spine.
"mum?" riley cried as she observed her mother.
"ry baby your mother is dying!" sian rushed out in a quick short breath, as if to get it out as fast as possible. sian exploded into a violent cry as riley's heart stopped beating for a second. riley opened her mouth, trying her hardest to breath as tears cascaded uncontrollably, you wouldnt even realise you were crying it was that uncontrollable.
riley sprang into her mothers lap as she let the amount of a tsunami flood from her eyes. her body starting to shake violently, the tips of sians fingers held riley together, resting her chin on her head. like a lemon sian squeezed riley, feeling her daughters heartbeat against her own pump ferociously as her breathing was as heavy as an olympic runner's.
the sun had moved three positions since sian and riley were cuddled up and letting everything out. slim rays of light shone through the blinds, marking out the tear trails down both females cheek. their cheeks close to a scarlet colour and their eyes so puffy that they looked incredibly swollen. sleeping peacefully, their chests rose inconsistent with one anothers. crying themselves to a deep sleep, thats what they wanted to be in,sian...living progressively throughout life without sophie...wasn't and option...and at the moment...so wasnt reality.
her eyebrows crinkling, moving her hand all over like an uncontrolled puppet as she tried to locate the black, slim, rectangular remote that controlled the stero she had made be brought in specially. aha she thought, her hands clasped tightly onto the remote, retracting her arm she pressed whatever buttons, anything to get the damn thing on.
smitting with achievement, sophie let her arm lay on the thin sheet they so call a blanket that smelt like a type of deterfent. the lyrics from david cook's number 1 hit on the UK charts filled her ears. it was one of sophies favourites, in fact it was the first one of his songs she listened to. Permanent. sophie's curiosity got the better of her as she searched extensively on the david cook official page the meaning of the song permanent. the results she discovered made her heart pound that little bit faster. his purpose for writing the song for his brother adam who was struggling with cancer. it made sophies muscles around her mouth twitch to form the slightest of smiles that seemed astonishgingly invisible and easy to miss.
sighing with the memory, she heard the annoying whoosh of the large doors being push through. rotating her atlas around her axis, she gasped silently as the two most important and crucial people in her life stood in front of the door, hearing it close in the distant background she let out a shaky uncertain breath. one. one single drop of pure salty water streamed fast like a train steaming down a hill down the side of her face, still gazing at her daughter who looked as if she were about to break down physically and mentally there and then spoke placed her wrists behind her and pushed herself up, so she was sitting up straight.
sian stood in rileys personal space as if to help her through this. riley sophies soft voice croaked, seeing as though it hadnt been used in the past couple of hours. coughing she watched her daughter, then in a heart beat riley instantaneously sprinted into sophies direction, hopping onto the rather comfortable hospital bed and into her mothers arms. once again shattering into a force of frantic tears, enough to create a pond.
still withdrawing tears, sophies eyes slowly closed as her arms held close the small body. panting, sophie flicked her eyes open, her blue orbs exposed back to the light she made instant eye contact with the blond. sians lip was trembling, her hands were sweaty and fidgety, she needed to get whatever was in he body out, her pulse was making her whole body shake.
"everything will be ok" sophie whispered in a soft, gentle tone as she opened one of her arms, as if to ask sian to be in her arms as well. sian paced incredibly fast over to the bed, hopping on, letting out a shaken breath, she enveloped both sophie and riley. holding one another for dear life, as if not having the strength and power to ever let go. riley in between her mothers, aimlessly sorrowing, not having the single power function to stop. sians forehead rested against sophies.
"look at me..." sian heard the soft whimpering voice order. tilting her head up she came centimetres away from their noses touching. staring into one anothers eyes with pure, genuine and unavoidable love that was connected all along even through the traumatic divorce. "i need you...to be strong for riley ok" sophie cried as she placed the soft inside of her hand on the sians damp cheek. "i will..." sian bawled out, shutting her eyes tight as hers and sophies noses were delicately grazing eachothers. sian brought her hand onto the side of sophies jaw, tracing her jaw line.
directly looking into one anothers eyes, their throats were as dry as the sahara desert, their lips moist from the wave of tears, inhaling the beautiful born aroma of each other, their lips drew closer, their hearts...pounding as if it were the last few moments on earth. sians smooth thumb, traced sophies lips, their noses pressed into eachothers cheeks, all they had to do was tilt their heads up to the tiniest of degrees and their lips would be automatically placed on each others....
