now that some of our nights are free we can go to things that are not bars.
last weekend: the global drum project with mickey hart and zakir hussain, big and trance-fabulous.
last night: the annual flamenco concert at the old town school of folk music, which was very, very good. visiting family from spain tore it up.
there are many reasons bars and rock'n'roll-ish-things haven't been working for me (for years, really), but i think one of the biggest is that it's been a good long while since i've seen any performer in that context subjugate self to whole and ego to raw wisdom. it is so nourishing for the soul to watch performers who do. weaving all together around one another like what we really can be, like what we really are.
