things are topsy turvy all over. but yesterday at "the village" for less than ten dollars total i got some nearly new black leather little-boots with buckles, a wool tricorn base, a very shiny velvet skirt, and A PRETTY DOLLY.
she is a sister to the spanish lady i found in new orleans, soon after having moved there.
forgive the crapolaness of the raw photobooth shots--i just wanted to share the pretty, right now.
here is the lady from new orleans:
they seem to be sympathetic to one another (and note the devil fingers):
i am not dressed up like them right now and have no face because it is still morning and i am sleepy in my jammies...if we all went to a ball together they would make me wait outside with the carriage!...but i love my dollies.
eta: i always have to do this with objects from the past, especially if i find more than one of them--i need to know where they came from and who made them and how and why and so on. i don't care about the markets; i just want to see the family tree. i did a little online fake "research" (because research, googling is not) and found that they are from mexico, made by a company called munecos carselle. this is their most popular/common doll style. the new orleans lady looks to be from the forties or early fifties, and i'd say her sister from the late sixties, based on the bollywood-fabulous makeup.
