Haha, really? If the Catholic church has disillusioned you into thinking you're a bad Catholic even though you believe in the Creed, that's kind of weird.
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6
So you've gotten it down. You're allowed to disagree with the rest, that's normal. And, as Flit has alluded to, us Protestants have been doing it for hundreds of years. ^_~
I disagree with Church on a lot of things. I haven't been praying to God much at all when I was little, I would just do a prayer or two once a year and go to church every Sunday. But lately, I've started talking to God- he hears me, he doesn't answer, but he helps me a lot.
I also believe in reincarnation, which is Buddhism, so I really don't know anymore. :P
what does it really mean to be Catholic? Maybe you shouldn't look at it from a religious perspective. For example, I've been a member of a Baptist church all my life, but I don't consider myself Baptist. I am a Christian, meaning I follow God's Word (the Bible) and have a relationship with Christ. I don't think believers in the Lord should have to separate themselves with religion...and yet, we do! If you believe that God is the Creator of everything and that Jesus Christ is your Savior and the Holy Spirit is living inside you then religion shouldn't matter.
what does the Church think about romance novels? I'm not sure, but I think if it's tasteful and most likely the characters are married, it's okay. I admit, I read het, but I stay away from the blatant stuff.
