Yuletide Letter

I AM HORRIBLE. MY YULETIDE LETTER IS NOT READY YET. BUT IT WILL BE. SO IF YOU'VE BEEN ASSIGNED ME, WATCH THIS SPACE.

Sorry for the caps. More sorry that I haven't written my letter yet. It will happen.

ETA: Letter is done!

So, as a general rule, I prefer fics really grounded in canon. I generally like established pairings if you go the romance route. Gen fic is always loved.

I love BFF fics. Harry and Ron being goofy in HP. Sam and Dean doing their brotherly bonding thing in SPN. Arthur and Merlin being so dedicated to each other in Merlin. So for Yuletide stories, showing the characters being all friendshippy? Total thumbs up.

I like all genres. Humor, hurt/comfort, romance, drama, angst--all of it.

I really like a lot of things, so I hope that doesn't make it harder for you!

To get an idea of what I like, have some links. Fics I've written and fics I've tagged on delicious.

So, more specifics

1. Ghostwriter. I want Alex Fernandez/Tina Nguyen
I love Alex/Tina. They were one of my first OTPs ever. But they were also my favorite characters, separately. You can't go wrong if you're writing this pairing. Established fluffiness, cute getting back together, even angsty "Why'd we break up?" will work. I really liked the "To Catch a Creep," "Who's Who," and "Just in Time" mysteries. And, of course, "Over a Barrel." ;) I did not like "Attack of the Slime Monster" (seriously, that's how they ended it?) or "The New Ghostwriter Mysteries" on CBS. No slash, please.

I don't think there's much to add here. Alex. Tina. Together. Any rating is fine.

It definitely doesn't have to be romance. Like I said, I adore friendshippy stuff. If you wanted to do something with the whole Ghostwriter gang, maybe meeting up for a last hurrah or something? That would be so much fun.

2. Amelia Peabody series. I want David Todros/Lia Emerson Todros
David's my favorite character. A story about his early childhood would be fascinating, or adjusting to life in England, falling for Lia, anything like that. I have a big problem with the more recent books--David betrayed them? They didn't tell David they were going back to the Lost City?** I roll my eyes. So avoiding those plot lines would be appreciated. No slash, please.

David is fantastic and David/Lia is adorable. I think in real life, I started squealing when that was revealed. I've always wanted to see the scene in the garden where Lia made the first move. But, really, anything's great.
If you want to do melodramatic teenage Lia wondering if David will EVER love her, that will totally work for me. Or David tutoring Lia, Lia realizing she has feelings for David, early-series gen fic with them as kids, late-series fic with them as parents. Any rating is fine.

If you want to do David and Ramses hanging out being all David-and-Ramsesish, that is just fine. Throw in a mention of Lia ("Where's Aunt Evelyn?" Ramses asked. "Shopping with Lia," David answered.) to fill that requirement. Or do the opposite with Nefret and Lia, and a throwaway David reference.

**I ranted about those problems here.

3. Jonny Quest. I want Hadji Singh.
Hadji's my favorite. Whatever canon you're comfortable with, that's cool. I like CJQ and TRA and I'll take the 80s if you feel you must. Any Hadji-centered story would be great. If you want to do a pairing, I like Hadji/Jessie. No slash, please.

I'm not picky about which canon you choose to follow. If you want to use CJQ and ditch the whole Hadji-as-sultan thing, that's fine by me. But if you want to use TRA and write something about him musing about finding out he's sultan and what it means to lead a country, that's fine by me, too.

I liked CJQ Hadji a little bit better than TRA Hadji. I talked about that here. But that was six years ago (OMGWTFBBQ??), and I've mellowed a bit since then. Hadji is great no matter which canon we're using.

Like I said, I like Hadji/Jessie if you want to do romance and I'm just not a slash fan at all. But Jonny and Hadji being goofy--I loved their shenanigans in CJQ, so more of that would be loved. Any rating is fine.

4. Brandon Sanderson - Mistborn Trilogy. I wanted Spook.
I really liked Spook. If you decide to do a story about his childhood, don't worry about getting the dialect. There's nothing I won't like here. Pre-series, missing scene, what happened after. Write about him interacting with other people, write him musing to himself about everything that's happened. Go wherever you want. No slash, please.

Yeah. Like I said, not a slash fan, and since it was pretty blatantly stated that Spook likes girls, I probably wouldn't like an NC-17 Breeze/Spook fic. But, really, follow your bliss here. Preseries, postseries, missing scenes, whatever. Do something domestic with Spook and Clubs. Do more reacting to Clubs' death. Show Spook bonding with the rest of the crew. Write him pining for Vin. Any and all will be enjoyed. Any rating is fine.

Okay, that got long. I hope it helps!

yuletide
