First Steps to DragonCon

May 02, 2009 07:56

I feel a little like Emperor Palpatine when he says, "The final stages are complete."

Of course, the comparison is pretty false, and we're not close to done, but for an early Saturday morning, I feel a bit imperial.

The status update is:

1. Friend is on board. Having him there will keep me from having a nervous meltdown among the hordes of people I don't know.

2. Hotel is reserved. We're staying within a block of rooms that opened up unexpectedly this week. Props to my friend for spotting it.

3. Aquarium Night tickets are purchased. It sounds like fun and I was told to check out the Aquarium anyways. They have whale sharks!

Still to come:

1. Plane tickets: I suppose I have to get there somehow.

2. Passport: After June 1, I won't be able to go without it.

3. DragonCon ticket: Those are useful too. I could buy at the door, but it's $20 less to buy before

4. Figure out whether I want to run the 10K or not: I did a bit of research, and found there's a 10K run on Monday, September 7! Since (I hope) I'll be training for a half-marathon at that point, I'm hoping that 10K will be a refreshing insert to regular training. Of other consideration is what it will do to my day. If it will ruin me for the rest of the day, I think I would abstain.
