writing update

I've finished the first draft of Cloud's story arc. Yay!

So now I need to sit down and just print out and read the damn thing, then do a few judicious rewrites. Prep for this event has been a trip to Staples for a bigass binder and other sundries, and a righteous whirlwind tidying of the office. Although I am a cluttery sort of person, I hate working in a messy space. All that visual noise messes with my concentration.

I also need to start thinking about agents again. I'll definitely resub to the one who asked me to, but I'd like to send out at least 6 or 7 queries on the first round.

Oh yeah, and because I added this character to the story I need to rewrite my synopsis and probably my query letter. YAY SO FUN. LOVE IT.

And now that I'm at this point, I'm starting to wonder if I should take some time and comb through the MS for entertaining snippets to post, maybe, my worldbuilding notes and so forth. I go back and forth on this one- it really pushes ye olde anxiety button, which also happens to be the button that occasionally jams for days at a time, so, um, yeah, it makes it hard for me to have a clear, rational decision.

OTOH The Iron Key is full of awesome shit- bloody magic, beautiful women, cutting one-liners, secret shamans, skull-busting death priests, wild dragons, sociopathic bad guys, demon possession... I could go on all day.

Shucks, seems an injustice to not share some tidbits. I've read a lot of advice lately from other writers/editors/agents that this has become the kosher thing to do.

Hmmmmm.

Comments welcome on this one. *stares hopefully, like a dog who sees bacon in your hand.*
