Looking back on 2013

I can't believe that the only actual post I put on LJ from last year was about me leaving my job in Research for Guest Relations. God really had his hand on me during that time. I went to Guest Relations where I just didn't fit in. It takes a very different type of person then I am, someone who knows how to work politics and not wear their feelings on their sleeves to do well in such a role. At least in the park I was assigned to anyway. The whole parks were in transition to a new ticketing system and we still had to learn the old system at the same time. And I also was made to do a research project half my time there, so I didn't get the same Guest contact as others. The hiring manager had the audacity to say they didn't get to know who I was...they never gave me the chance. I am not the type of person to not be myself. Then when it came time for them to tell me my TA with them was ending, I had no idea it was coming because I had received and email saying I would be extended until September, giving me only three weeks to find a new job before the end of June. Within minutes of being told my job with Guest Relations was ending, I was sending emails to my old job, Research and was told there wasn't anything for me at the time. So I had to go to Casting and was told the company had no full time positions available in anything but 3rd Shift Custodial or Lifeguarding, and I could not do either of those physically. So I was told I could be knocked down to Part Time Turnstiles at Animal Kingdom. One day and 8 hours before I was to start that job I received a call from Research saying they could take me back full time on a TA, meaning it wasn't a permanent position but I didn't care, it would be full time and I wouldn't have to loose any benefits. God was all over that and I am extremely grateful. Grateful as well that Research themselves desperately wanted me back and made a way for it to happen. A month after being in Research I had to interview for Full Time again and of course got it. But now I am not a coordinator after having been a coordinator in Research for nearly 8 years...and I am loving it. It is so nice to be moved around from park to park rather than having to be in the same place day after day. And now I am being pulled for more specialized projects. I think being away from Research gave me a chance to see the benefits of the department, and I try to spread that epiphany to others. Research really is a good department to work for.

Do I still have no man in my life, yes, but I'm used to that by now. God has a plan. Even today in church the message directly from our pastor's mouth was "He is worth waiting for." I fully believe that and hope that for whoever my husband will be, I am worth waiting for too.
