Oh, oh, I'm live blogging the election. Because that's a Thing people do. (All times PST.)
4:36 PM
Vermont and Kentucky have been called. If Jessy were here with the rum, that would be two shots. But why has Vermont been called with 0% of the precincts reporting? Silly Media.
4:45 PM
This is very Important and Relevant political commentary:
4:52 PM
Vermont's now showing 1,000 votes in. It looks like Vermont has the earliest closing of the solid-Obama East Coast cluster, so I'm guessing CNN called it the second the polls closed. Not that I blame them. I guess that means we'll see a rash of callings at 5:00 PM PST when New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire, etc. close.
5:01 PM
Florida is showing 55/45 for Obama. Yeah, right. Florida will not be called that easily.
5:09 PM
Let's see how the exit polls are doing. Kentucky has the most precincts reporting with 21% going 57/42 to McCain. The exit polls say 56/42 to McCain, which is pretty accurate.
5:14 PM
I'm following CNN (
results,
polling projections,
exit polls), but FoxNews'
map wins with the superfluous moving-around-ness.
5:45 PM
Jessy showed up with the rum, and there was much Pina Colada rejoicing.
5:53 PM
Florida is going 52/48, which sounds much more likely. If Obama wins Florida, there won't be much point in watching the rest of the night.
5:55 PM
Pennsylvania is being called Obama as a big upset. But only 1% reporting?
5:57 PM
New buzzword: "Corporate Welcare" - Jessy
6:01 PM
Missouri is a battleground? (Turns out it is difficult to type while holding a drink.)
6:05 PM
Yay, all the 9 PM ET (phone home) polls have closed. But why did they not automatically call Texas? And New York goes to Obama. *gasp*
6:13 PM
"One Pina Colada down, a heck of a lot more states to go." - Jessy
Jessy is complaining that she only gets the drinking statements, while I get to say all the intelligent things. I'd like to point out that she was the one that pointed out Pennsylvania only had 1% reporting.
6:15 PM
"Woah, the Democrats and Republicans are defragging!" - Jessy
6:22 PM
CNN said North Dakota was a battleground, but then they called it for McCain after 2% of the precincts reported. Either it's a battleground or it's not, jeez. ("All 3 people and 2 cows are Republicans." - Jessy)
6:32 PM
I like that 6% of the precincts are reporting but only 9,000 votes are recorded in North Dakota.
6:35 PM
Virginia is surprising close. Leaning towards McCain now. Nothing interesting is going to happen for the next half an hour. :P
6:40 PM
We have turned to the talking heads to amuse us. "We are calling Obama the winna for Ohio." - Suzanne Malveaux (pronounced SuZAHN) *coughpompousfakeaccentcough*
6:47 PM
Virginia is 50/50, whoohoo. More hanging chad incidents? I hope so, or else this election will be over too soon.
7:14 PM
Mmmm... dinner. Okay, CNN has called New Mexico with 6% reporting 51/48, but they haven't called Texas with 21% reporting 53/46. LIKE TEXAS ISN'T GOING McCAIN. Seriously.
7:54 PM
Okay, the election is getting boring. Probably Obama. I'll post again if something interesting happens.
11:54 PM
You know who's probably bummed? Hillary. Look, a Democrat won! And it was almost her. sux0rs.
