Bike Ride
7:50 am - Arrive at REI, notice I'm the only one without a Jersey
8:02 - Leave REI, notice I'm the only one with a mountain bike, one guy has a 'comfort' bike, the rest have road bikes. the uphill portions from foothill to baseline is fun, I'm in the middle of the pack, partaking in conversation. Turn right (east) on baseline, towards the rear of the pack, with the guy on the 'comfort' bike. I catch up at Etiwanda, turn left (north) towards the front of the pack. Right on Victoria St. This is were I get smoked. It's a flat road with very little traffic. I discover how much wind resistance my tires have. How very un-aerodynamic my bike is. I fall out of 3rd gear twice, I can fix the chain by back-peddling and shifting into second. I make it to cherry, where I decide that I can't keep up
8:45ish - Decide to turn back
9ish, get back to REI, call Jay, go bike riding on old railroad tracks starting at central park heading west towards the 7-11 on Amethyst and Baseline
12ish back at home, 15 miles, a little saddle sore
