During Shaymalan's interview, people would ask him about his inspirations and if he watches a certain film before he starts writing a new script. He went on about how he doesn't really use his inspirations and that he just does it all himself, I thought that was a bit too cocky to hear considering the fact he uses Hitchcock's cameo in every film. There is nothing wrong with doing so, but you just have to accept that Hitchcock gave that inspiration...

He talked about Signs, and he said he wasn't too happy with the ending of the film (niether was I), and he spoke about how because Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense (which both were great films) were huge hits in LA and NYC, however, not in Middle America. Therefore, his goal with Signs was to create a film that would satisfy Middle America.... Maybe its the money that caused this turnaround in his career? I thought The Village had incredible cinematography, each shot was just so beautiful. However, when it came down to the characters and the story... upsetting.

At least we have Garden State out the same week...
