Marching Band

Marching band seems to be going okay. The freshmen are picking up marching way fast, which is excellent. They're really good kids, and I'm happy about that. And, the ones who were having trouble are trying extra hard to get it, and that's pretty impressive. I'm really proud of them all. :] All the older kids are being really cooperative as well. (I hope that lasts for all of marching season!) I think we might have a good section this year!

The music, on the other hand, is a little on the boring side. I hope it picks up a little. And, the first part of it is so hard to read! (By the way, can anyone tell me how to play measures 7-10? I pretty much don't get it.) At least, it's hard to read if you play my part. Once you get past the first few lines, it's fine because there's no more crazy divisi. Oh well. Maybe the music will grow on me. It just really isn't that cool sounding or fun. Then again, I've only heard what the clarinets and flutes play. Once I hear the whole band, it will probably sound better. I'm sure hoping so. [Oh, and wth to some of the people who made it into Symphonic band?? (Mainly in the clarinets.) I have a feeling that's a decision that might be regretted later on.]

Mr. Farmer is pretty nice as well. Or, at least of what I've seen of him. He's been pretty friendly to me all the times I've seen him, so I think that's good. I think he'll be a good band director, and I think the kids who have him will really like him.

I now have a bass clarinet AND a reed for it. I think I'll start playing around on it today and see how it goes. I should probably start practicing as soon as possible so I can get quickly adjusted - especially since I'm doing region on bass! Ahh! Region along with everything else I have to do this school year! Why am I so busy??
