Bless you,
icubud . With your nudge, I left the house before I imploded into my own mind. I was definitely spiraling in that direction. I much needed it. *hug. The memories triggered by my housework yesterday nearly did me in, on a weekend when all my friends are busy and Katie's out of town. A really, REALLY, REALLY bad combination.
I took another 7 bags/boxes for Goodwill. It feels really good to take things that still have years of use in them, and get them to people who can use them. Which reminds me...
*soapbox time. I know there are agencies that will take clothes and household goods and give them away. I've donated plenty to them, too. I also love the Vet Associations that will come right to my door and pick them up
(remember this picture? ) I'm proud to support them, too.
I got criticized by a lady at work for choosing Goodwill over other options, because "they don't even give the stuff away - they charge people for it." Yes, I'm well aware and do you know why? because THAT IS WHERE WE SHOPPED WHEN I WAS A KID. We weren't a charity case, we paid for our things, thank you, and were proud to do so. I eagerly looked forward going to Goodwill where I could get a precious Nancy Drew mystery for a quarter. I have very fond memories of them and will support them, always. I'm pleased that they provide job training and placement for those who might otherwise not be able to. *off soapbox
Anyway :) I took one bag of girlie summer clothes to the resale shop. I took in 8 small dresses and left with 4 dresses in her current size - with a $3.50 credit to spare. Bargain! Then I treated myself to a pizza-grinder (pizza bread, pizza sub, whatever) and had a lovely chat with the ladies there. Then I swung by the half-priced book store and sold another box of books. I also bought a few - I got a funny one for my pal Judy. She needs a pick-me-up - the job search isn't going very quickly. and now her husband needs a hernia operation. Man, they're having a rocky year.
I got tickled - the ladies working at the resale shop, the pizza shop, and the book store all loved my shirt "Do you mind? I'm trying to ignore you." I told them I usually wear it when my ex-husband is around. They thought that was hilarious. I love making people laugh :)
Then I thought.. what the heck. Michael's seen it twice, I'm gonna go see
Iron Man. I know nothing about the story, just saw the previews on tv and thought it looked good. Lemme tell ya - go see it - at least twice. And stay through the credits - ALL of them. Even the credit for "plasterer". It even made me squee :) Robert Downey Jr was insanely wonderful.
Then I came home and worked in the garage til it got dark, now I'm watching a Netflix video that's at least 3 months old. I so suck at watching and returning these things. It's called "
Life Without Dick". *giggle. It's got Craig Ferguson in it. It can't be bad ;)
