All Mirth and No Matter

Dec 10, 2007 00:27

I realize that I *says like Dr. Cox* Fa-ha-ha-AIL at posting FGF on time, but oh well. We're making the Offical Start time for this 10:31 am. We'll see how long it takes! Fair Warning: This post, like most FGF's, is a bit photo and link heavy. It's also VERY stream of consciousness... so, apologies in advance. Why I felt the need to Time this, I'll never know... but there's that as well. Enjoy the ridiculousness, yeah?

... And we're off!

I'm actually really glad it's Sunday, and the start of new week. The past few days have just been so full of busy nothings... and it's been ridiculous, especially where work is concerned. Thus, my rather whiny and restless posts at the beginning of the week... sorry about that. So, here's some really AWESOME things about this week... (and some randomness)

1) We had our first and second "offical" snow fall this week. They were both really pretty, and really got everybody into the spirit of the season. Driving in the stuff may stink, but I still do things like retrace my footsteps so the snow stays "fresh" longer...

2) I resolved to make the MOST of the last month of the year. If you're interested, you can go and check out my To Do List. :)

3) It's the holidays. I'm one of those annoying people who really, really likes Christmas... Sure the marketing that starts right after Halloween really bugs me... but Christmas is Christmas, you know? There's been decorating both at work, and at home... and it's been awesome.

4) I actually have begun, and made headway with my Holiday Cards... WaHA!. (Speaking of, if you'd like one, go ahead and comment with your address. All comments will be screened... OR you can go ahead and just e-mail it to me...)

5) The BBC released their Christmas Schedule and that means... Dr. Who Christmas Special! Hurrah!

... Not very exciting, eh? To make up for it, here's some Thanksgiving Day Pics! :)

How me and my Cousin spend our Thanksgiving Day. Please excuse my singing!

10:57 a.m.- Pause to get Breakfast for Mum... 11:21 a.m. Restart!

Abby Madchen, and I!

Wee Cousin Odin!

Wee Cousin Luci! They're both pretty much death-by-cute, no?

Family!Apples to Apples

The very first card I got. Heh.

My Father, the Dork. :) I come by it naturally you see. :)

Right. On to the FGF, right?

Shocking Fangirl Realization:

Robert Duncan McNeill (Lt. Paris from Star Trek: Voyager) is EXECUTIVE producer for Chuck... and apparently has directored a lot of well, everything. You go, Fly Boy! (I'm watching Chuck as I write this bit...) *Giggles* and Jayne Just said "Shiney" Ahahahaha.

AHEM, FOCUS. Sorry!

1) tom_rules just pointed me to the Chronicles of Narina: Prince Caspian Trailer. It looks pretty dang amazing. Lucy looks SO grown up, too. It's crazy!

2) The Smith's "Ask", is really rather lovely.

(Break 12:00- 5:06 p.m.: Mom needed me to help clean up, and I figured I'd better shower and eat some lunch. And then I did laundry and a bunch of other productive stuff. Back now!)

3)
, as previously mentioned, is fantastic... and fantastically romantic. I also now have a bit of a
Problem. Oops...

4) My toolishness for Musicals, John Barrowman, and Stephen Sondheim combined, and I net flixed Putting it Together. My fangirl heart couldin't been be happier. The Cast is amazing... (George Hearn, Carol-Freakin-Burnett, John Barrowman, Ruthie Hensall, and BRONSON PINCHOT.) The show itself is a review of Sondheim's work... but it's incredible how they got almost a whole NEW PLAY out of just "PUTTING IT TOGETHER..."

[ ETA: It's now 10:36 p.m. This last hiatus was due to dinner and seeing a performance of The Messiah. And Nobody Cares anymore... ;) ]

Oh yes, folks. That's right. Balki. Singing and Dancing Sodheim, and amazingly well at that! Check out the hilarious "Invocation and instructions to the audience..."

And WATCH the following: "Buddy's Blues"

Carol Burnett was beyond amazing, of course, in particular, her rendition of "Not Getting Married Today"

I've also discovered that I wish I were Ruthie H. She's AMAZING. But I'll let you watch or listen to "More"... and you can decide for yourself...

Other Random things you should know about "Putting it Together"

- "Being Alive" is probably one of the prettiest showtunes ever, particularly the arrangement... It's a Round, and just... GUH. If you love teh Musicals, Download, Download, Download...

Watch
Listen

- "Bang!" is bar none, the hottest showtune ever written. The lyrics... I cannot even. And the dance? I swoon. A Lot. There's nothing awful at all, but as you can gather from the title... you may not want to watch the video with the kids around, to be on the safe side.

5) *Attempts to keep breathing* I am currently listening a BCCA Radio Audio. Of Much Ado About Nothing. With
as Benedict. Oh, it's so good. Fantastic, even. Even more so because Chiwetel Ejiofor is playing Claudio. *Flails* When my Brain fuction returns, you'll hear more about this... For now, though: Enjoy the following clip, in which Benedict ponders what he's looking for in a women...

Whew. Alright. We're nearly there...

-xof1013 totally wins the FG award for the week, because she's started posting bits of
which is the sequel to her fantastic QAF fic
If you heart the QAF and good writing... Go Go...

* This is something that should of been posted a LONG time ago... I mentioned in my last entry, that The Killers released a new Album of B-sides. And it's pretty darn good... but what's MOST exciting is that the infamous Murder Trilogy is finally complete, and I thought some of you might be interested... so here it is.

- "Oh, Jennifer...." Creepy, and fantastic. This is a live version I found, because I like it better than the stuio version.

-
- The Deed. Everyone should listen to this song, because it's just... really good. And creepy. Here's the
, too... For Fun.

- "
- Caught Red Handed? We'll never know. I don't know why, but I always been fascinated with this whole triology song concept... so, enjoy! And... if not, enjoy the pretty:

Too Pretty...

Old Tyme Killers...

Current Killers.... sometimes makes me miss Old Tyme Killers. So... let us, once again...
