what a terrifying experience i had this morning.
i woke up this morning at 4:40 am (only about 5 minutes before my alarm went off), to the sounds of blood-curdling screams. at first, i thought i was dreaming. then, I realized, it was real, and coming from somewhere very, very close. I bolted out of bed, and ran around the apartment making sure every window was closed and locked-- pepper spray in hand.
shockingly, my roomate never woke up.
i run to the front door, shaking, and look outside. There is a girl on a cell phone, with a dog on a leash, about 20 yards down the street from my house. She is clearly trembling-- and i can see this, even though she's pretty far away (well...."far" if you consider i could see her shaking, NOT far, considering she is obviously the person who was screaming).
I yell out to her. Ask her if she is ok. Her head snaps towards me, but, she is clearly still talking on the cell phone, so she doesnt respond--but she looks terrified.
Suddenly, a car comes RACING up the street, swings into the driveway of the house she's standing across from. A guy jumps out of the car. The girl backs up farther from the house. The guy dashes in the house, dashes back out, and takes off again-- never so much as glancing at the girl. I dont know WHAT the fuck is going on, so I jump back in my house and lock the door.
Next thing I know, 2 Providence police come FLYING down the street and jump out of their cars to talk to the girl.
I still have no idea what happened....but it was fucking scary as shit.
