I've seen a few "You kids get back on my lawn!" type posts decrying Tumblr as a fannish platform. I empathize. Personally, I really dislike Twitter; I find it a really uncomfortable medium, and the fact that some fannish conversations are conducted primarily via Twitter is baffling to me. Oops, my paid time ran out. I'll renew eventually, but in the meantime, my stock of icons has gone down to a selection of fifteen. I always wondered this of LJ too: how does the system pick which 15 icons of my 100+ to let me keep? The question came up on Tumblr whether Charles Xavier should be pitied because he's asked not to read the minds of the people close to him. Turtletotem makes the point that this depends a lot on how you perceive the nature of Charles's ability. Here's how I'm handling kudos, and I recommend it, because it's working really well for me. I've set up a filter in my email program that filters all kudos, unread, to a folder. Since the folder shows the number of unread messages it contains, I can see at a glance how many kudos I've gotten ( Read more... )
