After literally years of thinking "I guess I should download those episodes of SGA I still haven't seen" and not doing it, last week I impulse-bought used sets of seasons 1-4 when I saw them cheap on eBay. They arrived today! Now I have the insane urge to watch the whole show and rewrite each episode to suit my personal canon. DO NOT ENCOURAGE ME, I have atlantisbigbang and mcshep_match to deal with already, not to mention another dozen or so WIPs.
It is tempting, though. Did anyone ever float the idea of a virtual season 6? I guess it would be too divisive, since McSheppers would want to break up Jennifer and Rodney. Personally if I rewrote all of SGA, I just wouldn't feature any relationships. Stuff like Rodney's date with Katie stays in, and John's UST with Larrin, and Rodney and Jennifer flirting over fruit cups. I'd leave it open to assumption that various people are together. But it's more fanfic friendly not to nail anything down, and more importantly, it'd be a better show, because every depiction of romantic entanglement on SGA ranged from boring to offensive. (I still can't believe they wrote Rodney saying re Jennifer, "May the best man win." Motherfuckers.)
