I loved seeing the other cast members get more time; Maldonado in particular was great--her soft-spoken but authoritative approach to being a police captain is awesome. Poor Rudy...so many geek cliches in one package ( ... )

Also, did John really murder the crooked cop at the end?

I think so. Unless their weapons can be set to stun.

Yes I think he did and I admit that bit caught me. We've also seen that he is prepared to get information from suspect in any way possible and it shows he has a "will do anything" to stop the bad guy attitude which I suspect might push him over the line.

It's not exactly a live reaction on my part, since I watched this one a couple hours after it aired and have been puttering since so I've had time to reflect a little bit (only a little *g*). Overall, another fun and entertaining hour of television wherein Karl wearing a gun holster and that black shirt worked really, really well for me. *g ( ... )

Agreed on both counts. The John/Dorian banter is the best thing about every episode, not just because it caters to my preferences but because it's witty and surprising and is truly about character development rather than being snark for snark's sake.

The crime plots, on the other hand, have been a bit unimaginative. They're cycling through the standard plots--prostitution ring, synthetic street drug, bank heist--but without updating them enough to make them really interesting, IMO. In each episode we get a futuristic element and a plot twist and that's about it. I hope as the series continues, they'll delve more into future society and develop at least on Big Bad--maybe one with designs on Dorian.

That was definitely a Canadian Shack! At least the "cabin in the mountains" allowed Vancouver to loosen its belt for a few minutes.

Filming in Vancouver, it probably actually was a Canadian Shack too. *whistles*

*laughs* And now I really want an Almost Human Canadian Shack story.

Loved Rudy getting in on the action as it gives us added insight to his character. I'm glad that he's seen as part of the team.

It was interesting to see Dorian fight the other android. We know he can't be hurt like a human so having them fight to an almost stalement means that it's the smartest wins I suppose. Makes you wonder just how many 'individual' androids there are around and who makes them.

I like how Dorian reacts to John. He obviously loves to tease him, like when he got him to eat the worm. But he looked a bit confused, or was that hurt? when John made that snidey comment on them being friends.

The robot fight was really cool, and good point about Dorian being smarter than the other ones. It does seem that the other robots are a bit like Imperial Stormtroopers (they go down easy), but then they were designed as canon fodder, so maybe that makes sense.

I love how Dorian executes his comebacks and pranks with such precision. The whole setup with the sushi chef--Dorian speaking Japanese, making a perfect little joke, and then setting John up with the slug--was perfect.

Loved seeing more of Rudy as well, and that little glimpse of him thinking of himself as a James Bond type when agreeing to go undercover and wanting to get into a bar fight at the end put a smile on my face.

I'm enjoying the show a lot, but it's all on John and Dorian's part, because I'm not all that impressed with the police procedural part. Like pointed out above, the crime plots are pretty much by the book and don't utilize the future as much as I would like. But Dorian, again proves his mettle from the clever teasing at the sushi restaurant to his jumping in to save Rudy's ass to taking down the bigger Android. He's smart, attractive, and snarky. What's not to love?

And John, despite himself, is obviously starting to care for Dorian, since he didn't like Richard's "synthetic" comment, either. But, John's character disturbed me a bit in this. First he just clears a woman's record without thought or question or concern and then he shoots the corrupt police chief without consequence. Isn't that murder? I don't know. I want my good guys to be good. I can handle some moral ambiguity, but committing cold-blooded murder? I don't think so ( ... )

That bit caught me as well and I wonder if we will see more of that and them having to deal with his actions later on.
