Instrument is such a great, great fucking song. The way it starts off with that heavy as fuck buildup into the first verse, where there's really barely anything going on musically, but is still heavy and powerful as fuck. Even though the drum beat is just a simple bass snare type beat, I always imagine Brendan pounding hte absolute shit out of his set whenever i hear the song. And the moment the guitars break out and its starts getting louder..it almost feels like a relief I can't explain it. GODDAMN I really wish someone was here right now I really want ot listen to this song over and over and talk about how fucking brilliant it is.
I stole this book henry rollins wrote about the making of, and subsequent tour for, that rollins band covering black flag cd, cuz i figured there might be a few interesting stories in it, considering the amount of somewhat bizarre celebrity appearances on that cd, cuz i'm a total loser when it comes to that stuff. Apparently at the show rollins band played in DC, Ian came out and sang with Henry when they played Rise Above. That is some crazy, crazy shit, I really can't imagine what that would've been like to see live.
Fugazi is sort of a bad band to be listening to when you're procrastinating doing something, particularly when you have like, 50 or so live tracks, in addition to the 234392358493 recorded songs, all of which simply cannot be skipped once you've listened to one of them.
oh yeah...check this shit out..I believe it far exceeds his cover of 'since u been gone'
