I was just sitting around in my room thinking, and I thought about some things that I'd like to put on paper. But since papers ultimatley decompose or get lost, I thought I'd write it on livejournal. My ideas are probably incoherent, so whatever. This is something that if I felt like figuring out how to eljay cut, I'd use it ( Read more... )

You're twisting words.

I've come to my conclusion about drugs from:

1) People's experiences
2) Trainspotting

Renton says something in the beginning like: "people have forgotten the pleasure of it"

Yeah, pumping your body full of detrimental chemicals is probably the most idiotic thing ever, but just the pleasure of it all is euphoric. If a detrimental chemical can make you feel perfect for however long... all the more power to ya.

In a sense, perfection is death. After all, we're all going to die -- there's no doubt about that. But there's no racial bigotry in death. There are no wars in death. There's nothing. Everyone is the same.

wait, what are you talking about? i think you misread. he's talking about a "sense" of physical perfection when he mentions drugs. that doesn't imply actual perfection.

Wow, you've twisted/misinterpreted words here, but aside from that...

Taking more and more drugs is about reaching perfection, Leo. Aside from the obvious chemical addictions that come with hard drug usage, there is an intense addiction to the euphoria felt on a good high. Junkies are junkies because they strive for the better hit, and in their frame of mind - granted it's been warped by their addiction - perfection comes in more usage and and a striving for better highs. To users, perfection isn't a mental concept, it's more a feeling, and usage provides them with that feeling.

...and perfection is death. It is the most understandable truth about life; the most perfect if you will. There are no flaws in death, and there are no dimensions to it - at least any that we can wordly understand. You die, it's done, it's the perfect inevitability...
