Long Merits are Loooong
Things have been pretty slow on FFXI lately. At least, it feels that way. Almost everything I'm actively working on will take some time to complete, so progress feels like it's coming slowly. I've managed to get in more time lately meriting than in a very long time, but I still need so many more points. I finally decided to upgrade Chivalry to 3 (the 2nd actual upgrade), which puts my recast timer to 15:00 now. I freakin' love this ability. I'm still not sure how my final setup for the group 2 PLD merits will end up, and group 1 . . . Seems like the only really useful one is Sentinel recast. Maybe Shield Bash recast as a distant second, but the rest feel highly situational to me. I still haven't put any more merits into SAM yet. I will eventually, but for the time being I feel like if I'm going to be putting multiple merits into one of my DD jobs, I'd rather put them into further improving WAR than SAM. Even finishing off HP, which would benefit all my jobs.
Merits still left to do:
(PLD) Sentinel IV and V, Shield Bash (??), Chivalry (??), Guardian (??), still not sure on Rampart or Fealty
(WAR) Warrior's Charge is currently at a 10:00 recast. I'm seriously considering maxing this and ending w/ the 5:00 recast, because War's Charge > Steel Cyclone just makes me smile. I might actually end up finally unlocking Tomahawk as well (meh).
(SAM) Store TP is maxed; upgrading Meditate . . . Maybe; Shikikoyo is definitely something I want to knock the recast further down on. Overwhelm . . . I have no doubt I'll unlock & upgrade it, but I kind of feel like this is just asking for it, heh.
Speaking of things taking a long time to finish: King's Justice. Holy jeebus, I want this weaponskill already. I have no real idea how close I am to breaking the Sturdy Axe. I just felt it would be better mentally for me to not try and keep track of how many points I had towards it, because I need so many for the new weaponskills. My runic disc being saved up to floor 55 means I need in the neighborhood of 2,500 points to unlock them, and I've still got Atonement and Tachi: Rana to unlock. I'm trying to treat these as long-term projects. I don't even have the Brave Blade or Windslicer just yet, but it's not bothering me particularly either. We still need to get past Cerb on 60 somehow, and I'm hoping by the time I do get the other weapon drops, I'll need fewer points for them.
Finally, the longest of long things: I'm about 20 O. Bronzepieces away from finishing the 17th M. Silverpiece! There appears to have been a small bump in the going price of Dynamis currency over the past few weeks, and I'm not exactly sure I follow why. 1/2 price Timeless Hourglass, I thought, should = more Dynamis being done overall, meaning more currency in the system and therefore . . . lower prices . . . ?? I'm certainly no student of economics, but that was what I was hoping. Apparently not though, because I've been seieng Bynes @ 7k, T. Shells @8-9k, and Bronze for sometimes 10k and up. Still, being almost at 17 M. Silvers makes me feel like 20 is "within reach" and 20 will be 1/3 of this stage's upgrade cost. Yeah, probably only I could get excited by that. Hoping to be able to start sponsoring soon though, and that should finally provide some good progress.
