Things have just not been clicking lately. Our last Ultima fight was just . . . Yeah. Things were not helped in the least by one person basically attempting to take over the fight strategy during the fight. Ideas on better tank placement, and where mages should stand are welcome; But not while Ultima is attempting to eat your face. The thing that really set me off about that was the comment "I've done *a lot* of Ultima fights. I'm just trying to help you guys." Seriously. I have had this sentiment expressed before pertaining to various in-game events, and it's been almost universally from people who've come to us from one endgame shell or another and then leave again when they see a better offer. That sounds closed-minded but really, I'm sick of it. During a fight that requires some pretty precise timing is not the time to try and get everyone up to speed on a different strat.
Anyway, we lost. It was ugly and frustrating, and quite upsetting. You can't do something like Ultima without the right numbers and job distribution, and when people are more interested in leveling their lv.31 whatever then, yeah. The chips for accessing the Ultima zone are easy to get, but it's almost like "what's the point?"
In Nyzul also, we seem to be smacking our heads against the large snide wall that is Cerberus @ floor 60. We had a good series of climbs yesterday, getting
iniadelphinae's,
lokiseinn's, Shagg's and Rynne's discs saved up to floor 15. I had a little over 5k points saved on mine finally, due to the recent climbs, and for the last run of the night we decided to try for floor 60 again. Oddyseus came with us for this one, his last climb with us on his last night on FFXI. :( We got a very good draw on floor types, including a free floor, and hit 60 with something over 7:00 on the clock. We haven't yet seen either Hydra or Khimaira, and I'm damn sick of Cerb. He once again simply outlasted us with endless Hoplon spam and we ended the night dumped out into Alzadaal face down.
Finally had an interview last week --actually two, since there were two contract positions available in different departments, and I interviewed with both sets of hiring managers-- and I had thought it went well. The recruiter called the next day asking for some clarification about me needing to be off the clock before sundown on Fridays during the winter; Something I'd already talked to her about at some length prior to the interviews. She tried to cover it up with "I hadn't thought it would be a big deal, but the managers wanted more information about it." I certainly don't mind when people ask questions about this. I do mind when they ask and then apparently don't actually listen to what I tell them about it. That was Friday. I didn't hear back from the recruiter until Monday, when I received an email stating sorry but the offer had been withdrawn because "these particular departments have strict guidelines about the schedule and the only two options are 8:30-5:00 and 8:00-4:30 no exceptions." I find this a little odd, since neither of the positions entailed anything having to do with any type of transaction needing to be completed prior to a market closing. I guess this also means the entire company does not employ any observant Jews or other Seventh Day Adventists. Both positions were simply contract positions and not full-time, but I am still quite annoyed at this company's utter lack of flexibility for a single day each week for what would probably be two months' time all told.
I've got allergy testing scheduled for this morning, in just a couple hours too. Trying to think of a book to bring with me, so I've at least got something to keep me occupied while they puncture me. Fun fun fun.
