I.Love.Sushi.
My craving for this summer is as follows:
- Salmon and Ikura Don -- this is insanely good. It's like Chirashi Sushi, but only with salmon and ikura (salmon roe). Mix it up with wasabi and a little bit of soy sauce... mmm, heavenly!
- Spicy Tuna Roll -- the sauce I like is when they combine mayo, sriracha and a bit of sesame oil
- Salmon Skin Roll -- crisp it up, with bits of baked salmon attached
- Botan Ebi! -- this is a new one in my neck of the woods. Larger version of ama ebi, sweet shrimp
- Hamachi -- good ol' yellowtail. When it's fresh, it's so perfect.
I just had all of them except for the first one for dinner tonight. I don't really like to spend too much on fancy rolls. I can't say I don't like them, because some of them are actually okay. But the basic stuffs are really, really enjoyable. Just don't ever serve me california roll, or God forbid, ANY roll with cream cheese in it!
My favorite sushi restaurant is closing, and I'm so mad. When I asked why, they just said, "It's complicated". Uhm, hello, are you Olivia Benson? Sure, there are a couple other Japanese restaurants in the city, but this one is one of the most authentic ones, which is also the one closest to my house, and they make awesome Spicy tuna and salmon skill rolls!
