110 days, and counting
as of today, we have ...
+ air tickets to and from the US
+ Burning Man tickets
+ an RV reserved for the week of Burning Man
+ a place to stay while we're in the SF bay area
those are the big things that i wanted to get sorted before i could relax into the idea of going on holiday.
there is of course more planning to be done, especially if we throw a weekend trip up to Portland into the mix. but that is all, or at least should be, relatively easy to arrange.
next steps are to...
+ decide/arrange what camp we are going to be part of this year. the last two times i went to Burning Man i was part of Conexus. depending on what they are doing and how it shapes up, it would of course be lovely to be welcomed back into that. 2003 and 2006 were amazing.
on the other hand, i think it might be time to do something new and exciting... it occurs to me that i know several members of the Space Cowboys. being part of their camp could be a blast. but once again, it depends on what they are up to. i mean, i assume that they will be out there with Mog. woo hoo! but above and beyond that i haven't a clue.
i also know a couple of folks with False Profit
and then there are the million other camps that i haven't even heard of yet
+ flights between wellington and auckland
+ weekend trip to portland? sept 11 - 13. this depends, at least somewhat, on finances. we got a very good price on air tickets to/from the US, and the RV is not costing us much as our initial estimate. but the NZ$ is pretty weak vs. the US$... just being in the US$ is going to be expensive. this will require some more thought
+ sublet our apartment? if it was somebody we knew or maybe one step removed. then maybe. it would certainly save us some money. but not so keen on having strangers living here while we're away. so that limits our options pretty significantly. but i remain open to just the right situation opening up... it happened last time i went to the US. who's to say it couldn't happen again?
+ deciding what to pack. in previous years i've felt that my wardrobe was a bit underwhelming... it's getting better now
+ itinerary while we're in the US. i don't want to over-plan, but i do want to make a general list of places i want to go and people i want to see etc, and let a plan sort of come out of that
+ ANDC. and i'll need to sort an invite for Bex
+ thank you gift for Nathaniel and JuNelle for hosting us
