Easy come, easy go - Part 10
Sophie opened her eyes unfamiliar to her surroundings. Her heart began to beat faster as she realised that she was in a place that smelled of bleach with starchy covers and a beeping noise that echoed every minute. As her eyes focussed she realised that she was in hospital, moving her hand she saw it was attached to a drip, then she felt a pain in her left side, glancing round she saw a strange machine where blood appeared to be going in one way and back out again in to her.
Sophie started to cry, there appeared to be no-one there, suddenly a hand reached over, turning her face she saw the worried expression of Sian. “Sian” Sophie tried to say through her oxygen mask. Sian’s eyes softened, “Hey baby, glad you have come back to me”. The tears dripped down her face and Sian gently brushed them away. Sophie felt so weak, she tried to move her hand, but it felt like lead.
Sian could see her distress, “Soph, you’re in hospital babe, you collapsed, but the doctors are looking after you”. Sophie slowly reached to remove her mask, “My throat hurts” she croaked, “The doctors had to put a tube in to help you breathe, and removed it when you started to breathe by yourself, do you want some water?” Sophie nodded and took a sip from the straw as Sian held the mug up to her.
After a minute Sophie leant back don, she was tired and confused. “Why are you here ?” Sophie whispered. Sian’s smile faded “I love you, that’s why”, she said kissing her hand. “But, I cheated, I kissed someone else Sian…I thought it was you, I really did.. I love you, I never would have kissed…” Sophie stammered out then started to cough.
“Soph, it’s okay, calm down, I know you thought it was me, I ‘m sorry for not believing you” Sian cried realising how close she had been to losing the love of her life. Sian leant forward and silently with her eyes asked if she could kiss Sophie, Sophie smiled and they connected lips for a second, enough to tell Sophie that Sian had forgiven her and for Sian to realise that Sophie was really alive.
