"I'm going to class, Jack," I said, leaning against the door of the bedroom. He grunted from his spot on the bed and I rolled my eyes, shutting the door. I put my hand on my stomach, trying to ignore the queasiness rolling through it. I took a deep breath, walking back out to the living room.

I really wished I didn't have class today. My head ached, my stomach hurt, and my eyes were itchy from lack of sleep. I had tossed and turned all night, mostly because Jack was in my bed hogging the blanket. I didn't like sharing the blankets unless I'm cuddling, and Jack wasn't in a very cuddly mood.

I climbed in my car, laying my head back on the headrest and closing my eyes. My fingers rubbed over my stomach gently, clutching my unformed baby bump.

"Baby," I mumbled, tracing a circle where I imagined the baby was at. "Daddy has to go to class so he can earn a degree and make tons of money so he can take care of you and possibly even spoil you. So please, baby, calm down and make my stomach not so upset. This day will go by so much smoother."

I opened my eyes, sitting up straight and putting my seat belt on. I started the car, pulling out of the lot and onto the road.

"I love you, munchkin," I said, laying one hand over my stomach. It growled and I glanced down, laughing. "Did you growl at me? Does that mean 'I love you too'? Am I giving birth to a dinosaur?"

I turned the corner, driving towards the university.

"No, you're probably hungry, huh? Fuck, I'm so bad at this. I promise I'll remember to feed you when you're human. You won't go hungry, bump."

I parked the car in my usual spot, getting out of it and locking the door. I fixed my bag on my shoulder, feeling it ache just slightly. All these heavy books were killing me.

I walked through the building where my class was held. It was surprisingly empty, and I glanced around. People were usually shuffling in along beside me on the way to class. I got to the door and soon discovered there was a sign hanging on it.

"Motherfucker," I sighed, setting my bag on the floor. "It would have been nice to get a fucking call."

The sign stated that class was canceled for the day, and I groaned, putting my hand on my stomach again. I had dragged my sick, pregnant ass outta bed just to find the class had been canceled. I shook my head, picking my bag back up and starting my walk back to my car.

I threw my bag into the backseat when I got there, sitting down in the front and starting up the engine.

"Well, bump, guess what? Daddy needs some caffeine and you need some food, and from the intense craving I have for chocolate right now, I think we're gonna get some brownies and lattes."

I started driving towards Starbucks, rubbing my temple. I picked my phone up, hitting the five button to call Jack. I listened to it ring, realizing he was still sleeping. His voice mail played, and I waited for the beep.

"Hey, Jack. My class got canceled, so I'm gonna head over to Starbucks. I just wanted to see if you wanted anything. I'll be home in a little bit."

I ended the call, setting my phone down in the cup holder. I pulled into Starbucks, parking the car and shutting it off. I turned around, grabbing one of my books out of my bag. I might as well get some reading done for my next class while I enjoy my coffee, right?

I went inside, checking the menu out on the back wall. I figured I shouldn't be feeding my fetus a diet made up of all sweets, so I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, along with a piece of banana and chocolate chip coffee cake. I ordered a peppermint mocha for a drink, stepping away to wait until my order was ready. After it was given to me I walked over to one of the table, sitting down. I broke a chunk off of my cake, popping it in my mouth as I opened my text book. I carefully lifted my sandwich, taking a bite and humming as it hit my taste buds. The cheese was amazing; better than I ever remember cheese tasting before.

I was reading for a good ten minutes, polishing off my sandwich rather quickly, before I heard someone walk up to my table. I looked up, seeing the cashier, Rian, smiling at me with his dazzling smile. I sat up straighter, licking my lips before returning it.

"Hi," he said, and I waved.

"U-uh, hi," I answered, flushing slightly.

"Can I sit?" he asked, gesturing to the chair opposite me. I nodded, closing my book and wrapping my fingers around my coffee. "I'm Rian, by the way. Which you probably already know from the amount of times I've seen you in here."

I laughed, taking the hand he extended towards me and shaking it.

"I'm Alex," I answered, smiling.

"So are you just getting out of class, or doing some last minute homework?" he asked, gesturing down to my book.

"Actually, I just drove all the way to my class to find out it was canceled," I told him.

"Lucky break," he said, and I shook my head.

"Nah. I still had to leave my house," I told and he laughed.

"Well how else were you gonna get your coffee fix?" he asked and I chuckled.

"That is true."

"So you go to the university, huh?" he asked and I nodded. "What are you going for?"

"Vet," I answered, discretely rubbing my stomach to try and relax it.

"Really? That's cool," he said.

"Yeah. I've always wanted to work with animals, and a part-time job at the pet store just isn't cutting it anymore," I told him.

"You like animals?"

"I love animals," I nodded.

"What's your favorite?"

"I don't know. I like them all. Except I don't really like cats all that much."

"You'll see lots of cats being a vet," he told me, laughing.

"I know," I said, sipping my drink. "As long as the little fuckers don't scratch me, we'll be all good."

He laughed, making me grin. His laugh was as cute as his smile.

"What about you?" I asked. "Do you go to school, or do you just live at Starbucks full time?"

"I go to the community college," he said. "And then the rest of my time is spent living here."

I laughed, moving my fingers over the coffee. My head was starting to feel better now.

"What are you going for?"

"I haven't decided," he said, shaking his head. "I'm thinking maybe a teacher... But I haven't really found my calling yet, you know?"

"Well you're a pretty good barista, if that counts," I said, hearing him laugh.

"Speaking of," he started, looking back at the counter. "I should probably be getting back to work. My break is almost over."

"Oh, yeah. Definitely," I said, nodding.

"Thanks for letting me sit with you, Alex," he said, grinning.

"Any time," I answered, watching him stand.

"See you tomorrow?" he asked, and I chuckled.

"Probably," I nodded. "I need my caffeine."

"Alright. Later," he said, waving. I waved back, watching him go back to the counter. I looked down, grinning to myself as I finished off my cake. I shut my book, grabbing my coffee and standing up and putting it to my chest. I walked out of the cafe, going to my car and leaning against the side, giant smile overtaking my face.My apologies for this taking so long.
I just got my computer back because it was having issues.
