Feast in Lexington

Oct 18, 2005 11:02

Well, we made it here in one piece. Saw John and Linda Labiss last night, but none of the K'prt gang. Up early this morning wandering downtown Lexington (I walk and pray). Beautiful day here - no lower than about 60 degrees last night, I would guess...warm enough to walk this morning in shorts, t-shirt, and UNC baseball cap (hats are the best for bed head!). Hope everyone's having a wonderful start to the Feast. We had an excellent sermon by Doug Johnston last night about why we're here.

He asked us if we'd forgotten to bring anything to the Feast. Then he emphasized that the one thing we needed to have remembered was to be prepared to learn as we experience this Feast. He summarized how we can be prepared in four points:

1. Remember this is God's Feast and He has given each of us a personal invitation to it
2. Understand what God is teaching us through this Feast (everything is temporary, except for God and everything related to God, so primary focus should be on the things that are eternal, remembering that the everything is, as David said, no more than a breath)
3. Clarify individual/group focus of the Feast (whole creation is groaning, yearning for what this Feast pictures to be fulfilled)

It set an excellent spiritual tone for the Feast and I'm eagerly anticipating the other sermonettes and sermons we'll be hearing.

Hope everybody else is having a great Feast so far. Love y'all!
